I don't know about everyone else here, but I watch a lot of movies in the winter - hate going out in the dark and cold.

- I just saw this DVD from NetFlix. Very well done and enjoyable for adults (it's tame but would not hold a child's attention as it deal with adult issues.) I really enjoyed the atmosphere, especially the part set in England.

Stuck in a vicious cycle of dead-end relationships with two-timing men, Los Angeles resident Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Londoner Iris (Kate Winslet) decide to swap homes.
In the process, their trade paves the way for romances they never imagined possible.
This charming comedy from writer-director Nancy Meyers features an all-star cast that includes Jude Law, Jack Black, Edward Burns and Rufus Sewell. -

- Even if you've seen this before, it's fun to watch with someone who is watching it for the first time. So good on so many levels. Good laugh-out-loud experiences in many scenes. Good for anyone of any age - and of any faith, really.
A Christmas Story
(1983) PG
This humorous, nostalgic look at Christmas in 1940s Indiana is a holiday classic concerning 9-year-old Ralphie's (Peter Billingsley) desperate wish for a "Red Ryder carbine-action, 200-shot Range Model air rifle with a compass in the stock and a thing which tells time."
As Ralphie wages an all-out campaign to convince his parents (Darren McGavin and Melinda Dillon) the toy is safe, his dad wins a major award -- and displays it in the window.

Both of those are good movies! And A Christmas Story is a must-see for anyone.

I always loved Home Alone 1 and 11. Since I was little they always made me laugh
The movie The Santa Clause with Tim Allen is also really cute too.
The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, the cartoon version is always a classic. love it

got to be "white christmas" with bing crosby, danny kaye, and rosemary clooney.
also the original "scrooge".
and grinch of course and any charlie brown.
i like the old stuff.
for some reason i hate that movie with jimmy stewart, what's its name? oh, i know, it's a wonderful life. ugh....just rubs me the wrong way. don't know why.

Yep, I used to like "It's a Wonderful Life" too, but don't care much for it anymore.
A theater here in town has been showing Natl. Lampoon's Christmas Vacation all week. I took my grandsons the other night. It was fun to see it on the big screen.

Bishop's Wife is my favorite of all movies. Of course anything with Cary Grant is the best.
It's become my tradition to watch Bishop's Wife after Christmas so I can still feel in the spirit of Christmas. Everything is anticlimactic as of December 26.
So, tomorrow night New Year's Eve will be my viewing to get me back in a Christmasy mood!
Shop around the Corner with a very young Jimmy Stewart is another Christmas favorite of mine.

When I was a kid, one of my favorite Christmas records was "Cricket on the Hearth" with Danny Thomas and Marlo Thomas... I had never seen the Christmas special the music came from.
This year I found it on ebay.
Cricket on the Hearth was an awesome children's cartoon Christmas special. I really enjoyed it and so did both of my children, ages 9 and 11.
