hubs mother (who i don't get along with) is ill. his sister lives up there close by.
now he has told his sister that if she needs help he can drive up and give her a break and do stuff for his mom.
she has taken a week of vacation time to help her mother out.
the mother is legally blind and has a lot of other issues but won't listen to anyone, even doctors!! she's got herself into this situation and frankly, i'm all out of sympathy. she's had a double masectomy and still smokes!!! she lives in a mouldy, damp, ole trailer in a run down trailer park and won't move. that's her fault as far as i;m concerned.
but here's the rub. the sister is now telling everyone "oh poor me. i've had to use my vacation tme. i can't handle it. nobody helps, etc., etc., ad nauseous..." you get the point.
i know it's his family but i get really po'd when i hear this. because he has offered, repeatedly, to go up and help.
and now the other sister has called and said that if the mother dies, she wants everyone to give the sister everything because she's done so much for her mother...WTH!!!
ok, ok, i'm done....i'm just fed up with families and all their crap. it never stops.

Oh I have my fair share of family drama! I just haven't come up with an answer for it and don't have any words of wisdom to share with you!
I feel for you though... it's even a little more frustrating when it's the in-laws. I can tell my family how it is, but it's different with my hubby's family.
Some people need drama, they need people to see them as "wounded". Sounds like your sis-in-law could possible be one of those? grrr...

I have nothing to complain about with my family .. not even my inlaws. I don't jump for joy when visiting them for a week at a time, but they are good people.

ranid, I'll trade you families for awhile? I'm sure you would love my dysfunctional group. Somebody new to look at and different situations.
It would be fun. I have friends in Houston I can stay with them and travel to your family. All my immediate family is in Louisville.
Do you have someone here you can live with. Trust me you wouldn't want to stay with any of them.

We just tried a "Brady Bunch" vacation. My hubby planned and tried to make it a great time for all.
His three kids -adults might I add, acted like 3 year olds. My one son was able to go, they ignored him-he is a good kid, easy to get along with.
We have been married ten years, and I thought we were all over daddy remarried. Horrible....of course hubby defends them, which adds strain to us. Family? God's way of keeping us on our knees and in prayer.

Oh my and let someone pass away. Families really act like animals when there is money on the table. So very sad.
Someone told me recently "God gives us friends because of our families". I think I quoted that right?
