after my cruise i have observed the following:

ok, being a texan, i wear boots, but with jeans.

i am so tired of seeing a nicely dressed woman or girl and then look down and see these awful scuffy boots. i've seen boots with black dresses, slinky evening wear, short shorts, and even those tacky pj's they wear in public.

boots do not go with evening wear, sorry.. they don't go with pj's in public, or elegant slacks and tops.

i really am getting grouchy. nice flats or sandals or something is fine, high dress sequined shoes for evening, something other than tacky dirty cowboy boots.

and please, i'm sick of seeing strapless or no strap dresses with an entire bra showing. big straps across the shoulders, and heavens' forbid, the entire back of the bra showing. or worse, cut so low that the entire tops of the bra shows...

and beautiful gowns with no hose or tacky open toed shoes with dirty looking legs and toes. or even worse, hairy legs...c'mon women, for pete's sake...just stay home...

fashion, well, there is no fashion anymore. whatever happened to dinner at tiffany's, my fair lady, the elegant gowns of the 30's, or 40's.

aw well....

I'm with you randi. People dress like nasty pigs these days!!

and let's not talk about HAIR!!! Dirty nasty, scraggly hair. Hair that hasn't been cut in 20 yrs or washed in the past week. [Roll Eyes]

I agree too!

I cannot stand showing bra straps and ugly toe nails.. wear covered shoes if you didn't have time for a pedicure..

And I do have Uggs but I only wear them with jeans or if it is a super cold snowy day and there is no way I'm going to wear heels.

"Fashion" can be weird these days! Although the 80s fashion was prob the worst??

I don't remember which decade was the worst,.. they are all a blur! [lol] 80's hair and big shoulder pads were pretty bad!

When I was in my teens, we would attend weddings and big events wearing white gloves. Many wore hats, but I hated hats. Visualize Jacqueline Kennedy, gloves and all. (NO, I'm not referring to ME!)

No one wore tennis shoes to church. NO one. No shorts or flip flops either. Duh.

Now, anything goes. Most people at our church are dressed nicely. I always feel like I have to look my best .. in honor of being in God's house.

People definetly dress down these days. I saw a man in our church wearing camo. Guess he was going hunting after.

Since getting sick, I have been a little more lax on what I wear. I have mainly dressed for comfort, but I do draw the line. No boots with dresses or dress pants and no bra straps showing.

I agree, no one seems to care what they look like.. that or they're just lazy. I also dislike the whole casual boots with a skirt/dress look.. I have a nice pair of Frye leather boots, but I wear them with jeans. I wouldn't think of pairing them with a dress or dressy pants!

I also agree with the statement about not showing your feet if the toenails are looking ugly!

Ok, I'll stop being so critical now. [tsk]

boots are never out in texas, ever. in summer or in winter.

i've bought him several pair. i cringe when i think of what we paid for them now that we're retired. but hey, ya gotta have nice boots, dress, casual, work, etc, and then separate bike.

he prefers lucchese, has leather, eel for dress. now a man can wear black dress slacks with his black dress boots and that's fine.

but women now that's another matter.

and i'll never cruise on carnival again. my friend is right -- redneck to the bone... i'll stick with celebrity -- wheelchairs and walkers, no kids, but at least they dress very well. they also go to bed at 8 oclock....

if you want to see what i'm talking about search "walmart people" and get an eyefull...

I never owned a pair of cowboy boots until I moved to Missouri!! [Big Grin] [lol] I bought some white ones for a party. My husband and I went dressed as Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.

The boots nearly did me in .. I gave them away! OUCH!!!!

Tutu...there are or were some brands of cowboy boots that are more comfortable than others.

It has been a long time since i owned a pair so can't tell you which brand worked best for me.

Randibear...we are having cold weather first thing in the morning and hot during the day.

I don't have the stamina or strength to change twice a day.

So I put my shorts on with my ugg boots to do the 10 min loop in the forest.

Even I feel funny dressed this way. Good thing the fashion police don't see me in the forest.

When I am really sick -= and in the house, I try to comb my hair and brush my teeth...

I wear a soft to the knees dress, very proud of myself that I was at least "clean"

My son pointed out that the dog had torn the back of my dress....surprised I didn't feel the cool air.

kam - you get a fashion police waiver! No need to worry about what you are wearing!

and that goes for others who struggle just to get outside each day!

I'm whining about those who are healthy and have the extra energy to care about not showing bra straps or wearing boots with a dress, etc..

Eww - never been on a cruise before (not a fan of being stuck with a bunch of people on a boat!)

But this just gives me another reason to avoid them!

Plus how can you eat remotely healthy on one - I mean I am sure nothing is gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, organic.. lol

There should be a lyme cruise where you can get amazing food good for you and have FIR saunas, and IV nutrients..and tons of LLMDs there to answer all your questions.

James.. I once asked my husband what the difference was between butt cracks and cleavage. He was tacit in his response, but the look was priceless! [lol]

Tutu - I actually frequently contemplate this. It's a very interesting topic for me. Why in the world would men's hormones get all wacky just from seeing a pair of breasts? It seems entirely illogical to me, yet it is an innate response.

Sometimes I wonder how much it has to do with societal norms. For example, there are some cultures where women walk around with their breasts exposed, and their men don't get as excited when they see breasts. Likewise, there are other cultures who consider it taboo for the women to show their feet, so the men find women's feet more enticing than their breasts.

What a strange concept!

Oh randibear you touched on a pet pev of mine! Walmart shoppers ewwww!!!! They go in their pj's and curlers. When in the world did it become acceptable to shop in your pj's? Or eat food while you shop when you have no intention of paying for it!

I hate when these mothers don't watch their children in the store and a two year old, all dirty and half dressed is walking around. It makes me so mad I feel the need to keep my eye on them so they are safe, certainly their parents aren't.

Church lymetoo I am with you! Its inappropriate to visit the president in flipflops and I am sure the child will never live it down, where were the parents in this?

People go to church in casual clothes or sweat pants. I see them walking into churches like that. I would never wear something so disrespectable in Gods house. Now that brings dishonor to God and the church they attend. There is nothing wrong with being poor but no excuse for being dirty. Second hand clothes stores can work just fine.

James the European folks do not look at women the way Americans do. In Spain or Greece it is a norm to see nude beaches. I think it is something they put in the milk over here that causes hormones to become wacky.

Youth is beautiful [Smile] and they can enjoy it as long as they have it. By all means dress tastefully please!

Right .. you can be poor and still look nice and choose nice clothes. Many places GIVE clothes to the poor. Or they cost $.25 .. or you can get clothes at a garage sale.

I have some very nice clothes from thrift shops! No one would ever guess that is where I got them.

I'm not a small person by any means. When my older brother was getting married the folks wanted to buy me a new suit. The first jacket the arms fit but the jacket was huge.

The second jacket the suit was nice but the arms were too short.

The third suit the pants were too tight. Finally a salesman came over and asked if he could help.

My dad said, "We need something in the size of 'Oh My God!" [Big Grin]
