Every time you write a message, the Lymenet computer looks for any special instructions in what you wrote. Pictures are one of the special things you can tell it to do.
To put an image in your post, you need to tell the Lymenet computer what to do - and in this case, it takes 3 parts:
The first part is to tell the computer that it's the start of an image address: [img]
The third, and last, part tells the computer it's the end of an image address: [/img]
put them all together, and it's:
NO spaces allowed in there!
************* One thing to remember: when you "put a picture in" your message, all you're really doing is putting in a "link" to that picture. If the website where that picture is stored is not working, your picture will not work. Also, if the picture should change at the website, your picture as seen here will be changed too - even on messages that you did before! That's not likely though.
I'll put a bit more explanation about pictures in here as time goes on.

barbrann5 the problem you are having is that you are trying to pull from a server that doesn't allow hot linking. If you go back to gif animations page, they have a link below the image that tells you how to get the image so that you can use it. You must save it to your hard drive and then upload it to a website to be pulled from there. Many servers don't allow this though so you may want to talk with danq about putting it on his server because he seems to have no problems with that. Here is the image address you are looking for I think. I had to break out of the frames to get the correct address so you could go directly to the image to download. Just click on the words Image 34 below: Image 34
PROV2001 the reason you are seeing that "X" in the box is because Barbrann5 was not calling the image from the correct address and the fact that they do not allow hot linking. Any image must be on a server that allows what is called hot linking, meaning it must be allowed to show from that server to another server. Many do not allow this because it uses up too much bandwidth especially for a busy server. One like gif animations would be very busy daily with everyone who visits there to find pictures to use. It is the bandwidth that costs so much for these servers to even be able to run. Hope this helps both of you...

Yes, I checked it out... it was really hard to spot!
That '50' toward the end of the address is not "five zero", it's "five oh". The capital "O" looks a lot like a zero!
When I get a pic's address, I don't type it in -- I copy the address, usually by right-clicking on the pic and then selecting "copy image location" (you may have some other wording come up for the same function). Then I just paste the address into my post.

Cave, your thinking is right on. If you did as you described you would get those results. What you need to copy is not the page url, but the picture url.
Notice that the second one ends in ".gif" - that indicates it is the address of a picture. ".jpg" is also a picture, but most of the small cartoony things are gifs.
The way I got that gif's address was to right-click on the image. Then there's a little menu that comes up; for me one choice is "copy image location". That copies what I need; then I paste it into the post between the .
Like this:
One other correction to CJ's post: there can be no spaces (or carriage returns) between the .

Danq, I got the whole image thing, thanks. I even figured on out on my own that while replying the topic is below me and I can cut and past from messages I am responding to.
My question however is how do you get it to apear bold and even in italics?

Thanks for the info. The signature is a real bad paraphrase of a scripture found in Eccelistacies (I think). I know it was Solomon who said it. But it's truth is profound no matter how porly I have translated it.
