Just to let everyone know, I am aware of the search problem on LymeNet's Flash Discussion Board.
Because there are three different search functions on LymeNet, I did not know that the Flash search was the one that was not working properly. I am now aware of that.
All explanations as to the problem are valid. LymeNet has grown substantially! This means there is more traffic and more posts. This is probably why the search worked faster at 3am when traffic is slower. The servers are old and LymeNet has invested in new servers which are in the process of replacing the old ones, thanks to donations!
Because of the slowness of searching every post, faster connections will experience less wait time. I have a cable modem which is probably why it was hard for me to understand what the problem was at first since I was not experiencing it.
To minimize the search wait time, please try to define your search information to a specific forum. Even if this means you have to run the search over again for each forum, this may reduce your wait time and the "website not responding" error message. Also, try to do the search within the past few days. That means less posts the search has to look at, meaning faster results.
In response to some inquiries about not being able to return to the search results after viewing one of the results, "danq" has mentioned a good remedy. To view one of the results, please right mouse click on the topic, and then click on "Open in New Window" or "Open in New Tab". This will open the topic in a new window while still keeping the search results in another window to eaily refer back to.
I am very dedicated to LymeNet. I do try to put as much time as I can into helping LymeNet users and I apoligize for the delay recently in getting back to some people. I have not had much spare time recently and I feel bad that I could not put more time into LymeNet. My schedule should be lightening up in a couple weeks though!
Please bare with us while we try to fix this problem and update LymeNet. In the mean time, please try the suggestions I have made above.

Jenifer, thank you for the update for ALL members as to what is going on, the good suggestions made, and the servers are in the process of being worked on with newer equipment.
Thanks for pointing out to us there are 3 searches, and we users need to be more specific when we address a problem to you on the search feature from FLASH; gotcha for next time.
Again, thanks for your volunteer hours moderating this board! We do appreciate it.

Please be careful in any :updating" that is done. Certain parties want us to ...'update'... (yeah right) the site so that it will not be accessable to older computers. Please be sure to reject any ..'updating'.. that will leave out some of the people struggling with lyme. Many would find it impossible to buy new computers in addition to all those incredibly expensive antibiotics! And there are others who would just refuse; we'd lose them too. If you update, please WIDEN the accessibility, if anything- it doesn't take that much more code! Minimize ..'cookies'.. (it is nice not to have to put the password in every time), and be sure that it is possible to write a post off-line and then reconnect, etc, for those with dial-up connections! And there are many, many good things about the lymenet interface that we wouldn't want to lose- the site is very good for putting in links and "interesting effects" that I have seen some of the participants enjoy. (I'm more into just the words myself, but have at least put links in, on occasion..). And yet it STILL works on my computer, which, though it's not THAT old, is not all that new, either!.
I realize now that it's not you guys that are doing the coding. If they refuse to fix the search without some big ...'update'..., maybe we should just make the most of it- from what some of you say you can get it to work albeit slowly That's not so bad! Slow is much better then fast and inaccessible! DaveS

you might see about adjusting your browser - it may be set with too short a timeout value. Mine's set for about 5 minutes, and I always get my search results (though I'm not real pleased with the results quality)
You may have to dig a bit to find out where to make that adjustment.
