Does anyone know how to check to see if an email I 'sent' has been opened by the receiving party?

summerlove,
yes/no answer!
they get this in their HOME email as you/do, and many read the pm there. if they click on their link, it will take them DIRECTLY INTO THE PM YOU SENT THem.
IF THEY CLICK ON THE LINK TAKING THEM THERE, your FILED pm box will show "read" by the recipient!
if they read your pm in their home email, and then come here to the PM box, they can DELETE promptly, and it will NOT SHOW READ on your filed copy!! it's discouraging at times.

Wow-this is the first time I have even looked in computer section. I couldn't really follow the above conversation, but i do have a question about emails-but not related to Lymenet.
I inherited a used computer. I'm assuming it still has the original hard drive in it. anyway, when I check my personal emails a pop up tells me I have performed an "illegal operation" and the program will be shut down-which is exactly what happens.
Any ideas how to stop this from happening? Any computer geeks out there?
At least that doesn't happen when I log onto Lymenet!
It's an e-machine with Microsoft 98. thanks, Carol
