I use Mozilla firefox and thunderbird.
I HAVE a pop up blocker but doesnt work on THIS critter.
It has locked up my puter a few times already.
THE "ONLY" option it WILL allow is to suscribe BUT am afraid that they will want more and more!!
It seems to suck the life right out of my black box.
I am also on XP and this is supposed to be "XP Virus scan",,,seems more like an active virus or worm.
Seemed to come out of an e-mail,,,which it wouldnt even let me delete.
AND first time I posted HERE it didnt post that either,,,so it is self preserving!!

You will have to get rid of the program. Blocking pop-ups won't do much good since it sounds like it has installed something on your computer. I had this happen a number of years ago. I had to manually remove the program.
Can you please get the info from the pop-up so that we can identify the program and look for a solution? Write the info in here from the message that you get via the pop-up window. We want to know the company that is selling this program. Don't go to their website though. Don't click on anything in the window.

Just click on that link and the download should start, if it does not you may have to click on an allow to download it.
I download these things to my desktop but put it wherever you are used to putting downloads.
So, once it's downloaded click the file you just downloaded and start the install.
After it's installed you will have to check for updates and I think it asks you that when you start the program.
After all that run the program and choose deep scan. Make sure everything else is closed, like your browser, email and any kind of instant messenger you may have set up.
If it finds anything it will list them and just put a check mark next to the bad files and choose delete. Then re-start and see if you're good to go, if not, post back here and we'll go from there.

Hey MusicMan, Didn't know you were a computer person too! I don't know where Don went but feel free to take over. I haven't used the newer op systems because I need the server that comes with windows 2000 pro for web programming so perhaps you are better equipped to deal with the new op systems that people are using now anyway.
It's been awhile since I've had to deal with this kind of problem but before they sold the program I used to use hijackthis! I figured I'd have to find another similar program when the time came so I'll check out your program and see how it works.
In the past, if my regular virus program couldn't handle something, I'd get something to identify the problem and look for solutions from some of the forums that used hijackthis or one of the other programs.
If I can help at some point, please feel free to PM me.

Yep, I've been around PC'S for a long time now but with the Lyme I'm not here that much.
I use the A2 just for Trojans and AVG Free Edition for my anti-virus.
I use XP Pro but will be switching to Vista soon because a lot of the people I help have Vista now!
So just look at me as a safety net because of my health, not to mention when I feel good I'm usually recording music.

I can't be of much help there because I use IE 6.0 Pro.
But I'm guessing there is an option you have hit by mistake. Look at the top of your browser and see if there is anything that says tool bar options, something like that.
You could also just do a search for missing tool bar and the name of the browser you are using.
And before I forget? You really should run your anti-virus and that Trojan program I listed, just to make sure you have no extra problems.

I don't use mozilla but I have it installed. In looking, I find that you can go to the menu at the top of the browser page and click on 'view', go to 'toolbars' - click on 'navigation toolbar'. You want a check mark to be beside it. That should do it.
Please let me know the outcome. If it's not fixed I'll try to help you figure out how to fix it.

GOT IT!!! Thanks so much its so easy when I have direction and GREAT guidance.
I dare to ask this LAST perplexing problem I looked all over to change back to how it was,,,no avail.
When I am on say e-bay looking at cars for sale,,,I right click on item for more info,,,and open it in 'new window'
It opens in tenny tiny window, hit open full size,,,screen opens up full size info and written content stays in LITTLE window size and rest of BIG screen is blank,,,just as if I didnt open to big size,,,DID THAT MAKE SENSE??
Anyway cant see squat in that little window,,,have to scroll back and forth up and down to even see a pic or info!! HARD to see anything!!
ANY suggestions,,,(I even stumped my puter literate son in law!!)with this one???Tanks a bunch!! says --just don--

Nice try Betty but I don't think that will fix it. It probably has to do with a setting that is associated with the menu item "open link in new window".
Do you have the latest version of firefox? I'm not sure what version that would be for your op sys but for me it is 1.0.7. You can see what version you have by going to the menuitem "Help" Click on "About Mozilla Firefox" OR you could just try to upgrade what you have and if you have the latest version it will let you know.
I can't seem to duplicate your problem so don't know for sure what will fix it.
You could try a few things although I have my doubts that they will fix the problem. It's worth a try though.
Click on "Tools" Click on "Options" A box will come up click on "Web Features" in the left hand column Click on "Advanced" A little box comes up Make sure there is a check mark beside "Move or resize existing window"
You may have an extenstion installed that is causing the problem. You could uninstall and then re-install any extensions - something that is suggested in some of the info I've read. Click on "Tools" Click on "Extensions" A box comes up that allows you to select each extension and uninstall. You will want to make sure that you know where to go to replace them.
Before re-installing, see if you can now access the links correctly.
A few other things to try - reset to default settings. This will mean that you will lose any of your custom settings but it might fix the problem. Short of that, I'd uninstall the program, delete everything off the hard drive and re-install. That could cause some problems but it might fix the problem. Would mean re-installing any extensions, plug-ins etc..
Sorry but I don't know much about this browser since I only use it to test my website to make sure my website works with it. I'll keep my eye open for any info about this problem and let you know if I find something.
Hopefully someone will come along with an answer.
