TOUCHED BY LYME: How to join us in San Diego if you can't be there in person
Ways to participate from afar in Saturday's protest rally against the IDSA Lyme guidelines.
Lyme patients and their advocates will rally outside the San Diego Convention Center from 11 am to 2pm on Saturday, as the Infectious Diseases Society of America holds its annual meeting inside.
We're protesting the IDSA's Lyme treatment guidelines, which deny appropriate medical treatment to thousands of people with tick-borne disease every year.
Our truck with a mobile billboard has been communicating our message since the conference opened on Wednesday, and will be part of our event on Saturday as well. Read more about the truck here. <http://lymedisease.org/news/touchedbylyme/idsa-mobile-ad.html>
We've heard from many people who plan to join us in person, and we hope we'll see many more. But what if you're too far away (or too sick) to join us in person? Here are concrete ways you can help the cause:
1. If you are on Facebook, please "like" our page at facebook.com/lymedisease.org. Then,"like," "share" and leave comments on our posts about the protest rally. Facebook's system grants greater visibility to posts with more audience engagement. If you do this, you will help spread our message in a very tangible way. (On Saturday, we hope to post photos and videos as the event unfolds. Keep an eye on our page and help them go viral!) 2. If you are on Twitter, please "re-tweet" our messages. 3. If you like, take a photo of yourself (maybe with family and friends?) holding a sign saying "Revise Lyme Guidelines" (or another Lyme message--just keep it clean ) Tell us where you are from. Upload it to our Facebook page, or if you prefer, email it to [email protected] and we'll upload it for you. 4. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Keep it short and sweet. Say you stand with other Lyme patients and families who are protesting in San Diego. Add something like "The IDSA denies me and my family the treatment we need to get well." 5. If you haven't signed our petition to remove the IDSA Lyme guidelines from the National Guidelines Clearinghouse, please do so now. Click here to sign the petition.

Only some of us will be standing outside the San Diego Convention Center on Saturday. But in spirit, we all stand together.
