Betty,

You asked what we thought. Well, I think the one just above that Trueblue came up with by combining my idea and FFWW's idea is great!

However, it is well suited for a bumper sticker, poster, rally sign, or wherever it would appear in print, but it's not really a "battle cry".

We still need a catchy phrase to "chant" when the need arises.

Short and not-so-sweet is probably what we need, so do some thinking, folks. Can't wait to see what you all will come up with!

Nancy

Nancy, Good point. I agree that the posts on this thread contribute to several goals as the title of the thread would inspire. Tincup did specifically ask for a catchy slogan that would reinforce ILADS' name but her title implies that we also need things for rallies, sound-bites for the press, as well as cards to pass out to the public, etc.

One thing that occured to me belately is that anything with an "I" (for example the "insist" that we were thinking would be good") is actually problematic because it is in the other guy's acronym too and could lead to the very confusion that we are hoping to avoid.

Why should those whose disinformation (the "hard to get, easy to treat" lie) that let to so many of us having chronic Lyme in the first place be the ones deciding how we can now be treated?

Here's another one for print. Still working towards a "chant".

I. D. S. A.

Intentionally Denying
Serious Ailments

This is certainly not complete within itself, but I figured if I posted it, that others might be able to move it to the next stage. If we all post things as we think of them, then we can all work together to formulate something really good.

(I'll be back about 2 a.m. with the really good stuff. [Wink] )

On a more positive note, maybe we should all be preparing phrases that can be used on signs that will be displayed outside Mr. Blumenthal's office when the investigation culminates victorious.

Guess what I am trying to say is - write down everything that comes to mind, post some here, so that when any occasion arises we'll be prepared!

Hey, True. We're brain-storming now- just keep the ideas flowing. Never mind about judging. We never know, something one person says triggers the next person's thinking and soon we have what we need.

News Bulletin (dark humor dept):

A group of Lyme patients has announced that they are considering a temporary "species change" operation in order to be eligible for long-term antibiotic treatment. They say that livestock- dairy cows, chickens, and pigs are routinely kept for years on chronic antibiotics while the IDSA guidelines for Lyme treatment puts ABX treatment for serious human illnesses in jeopardy.

Mindful of the legitimate problem of antibiotic resistance, they say that in the case of the decades-long Lyme treatment controversy, the antibiotic-resistance question is largely a red herring. They believe that the controversy has more to do with covering-up past mistakes and guarding turf.

Tired of the struggle, and feeling that obtaining ABX "informally" is not their style, these patients are seeking a kindly young farming family to look after them until the truth is finally admitted and patients given the treatment they require. The patients, er...animals... would then be changed back into humans.

Currently, a pig is the preferred animal of choice for the species change. Patients note that pigs are very intelligent and very similar genetically to humans. Additionally, if the humans get confused about who the interspecies "pigs" really are, perhaps pigs will be found cute enough to be kept as pets and be spared the trip to the butchers until the business can be sorted out.

HOLY COW! Take a bow!

You all have been VERY busy! It is starting to look a lot like Christmas here with all these slogans!

I was thinking how hard this is to do.. so maybe we should just change the name of ILADS to something we can RHYME!!! Do you think they will mind? HA!

If you noticed in the trash article from Forbes.. one of our slogans made it to the article.. Wormser Lies, Patients Die!

OBVIOUSLY they are NOT happy with us... boo hoo hoo.

So keep it up and let's continue to share these great ideas!

I like them all.. well MOST of them.

[Razz]

I noticed Robin's is short, simple, polite, and to the point... and rhymes!

She said..

Lyme Disease? Use ILADS, please!

[Big Grin]

Hey Fight Fire.. you getting out some hostility? Good work!

WOW! Such wonderful ideas!
I can't think of any new ones. I like the "tick-ing bomb" and I like the "insist" one.

One thing to remember with a slogan - stress the positive! Don't even mention the negative.

As with political campaigns, all they do when they bash someone is make people remember the name of the person they were bashing.

So my thought is to just concentrate on ILADS and don't even put out the name of......
what was it? I forgot!

Does that make sense?

Sometimes I think it might be better to not even mention the IDSA. I know this isn't short, but in honor of Dr. Suess, here it goes....

Lyme disease causes terrible pain
and can even drill holes in your brain

I never thought I could get so sick
just from the bite of a 1 mm tick

no pain medicine I took, large or small
made any difference, none at all!

But then an ILADS doc gave me antibiotices
and after 3 years, by jove, we got it!

But then some researchers that never see patients
ignored the improvement of thousands of patients

They based their assumptions on 4 flawed studies
and even took money from their health insurance buddies!

So that the one thing that helps to rid us of pain,
we are now told, "we don't think it works, so just tough it out, suffer in vain"

I thank the stars for the ILADS docs, who treat thousand of patients, around the globe, around the clock!

So to end my tale of woe and want to escape from lyme hell
see someone with expereince treating lyme and tick infections, get an ILADS doc, they will get you well!

May 2010 Lyme Disease Awareness Month Hiphop -

I know you can't hop, and there's a pain in your hip,
But we're telling you: stop - from this refrain, take a tip -

What you don't know can cause you woe,
'Cause Lyme and co's, they can take away your go.

We got to educate everyone
Or we will all be gradually undone.

It's up to you to learn about
Lyme and co's, since your life they can reroute.

Bacterial infections, plus protozoa
From ticks, bugs and us - say whoa -

Better change our habits and start to protect
So from Lyme and co's we don't all get wrecked.

Learn about the two standards of care
So you can get to ILADS to stop Lyme/co flare.

It's up to us to start telling the docs
We expect nothing less than the truth, 'cause it rocks.

From "there's no Lyme in" fill in the blank,
To Lyme this whole world it will tank

Unless, unless, we all get hip
That we must all hop to save our earthship.

I remember that some poster hadn "Lyme: forbidden government fruit" in their siganture for a while. That'd be an ok one.

Maybe bumper sticker with "who is [insert coverup architect's name], and what is [he/she] doing to us?!" with a picture of someone in a hospital.

"CDC: Center for De-cephalization" with an image of diseased brain scans and a link to lymecryme.

All the really good ones I'd get banned for posting.
