So, not only Babesia but also Bartonella seem to be a threat for blood transfusions. quote: The viability of B. henselae was demonstrated after a storage period of RBC units. These data reinforce the possibility of infection by transfusion of blood units collected from asymptomatic blood donors. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18937735

Oh joy! Another problem the IDSA hasn't bothered to address. They are still fighting us about Bartonella being found in ticks. Maybe the IDSA should be called the WHNCAI... "We Have No Clue About Infections". Or CAIS... "Clueless About Infections Society". OK TC, time to wrap it up and go to bed BEORE your head explodes. --------------------www.TreatTheBite.com www.DrJonesKids.org www.MarylandLyme.org www.LymeDoc.org
