For two months I have been taking VSL#3 and have had a migraine almost every day.

I stopped taking it yesterday and today I feel much better and have NO headache!

It seems that certain probiotics can actually cause reactions in some people and release histamines which can lead to migraines. ( I know, How insane! I always thought certain probiotic brands were giving me headaches from the fillers, but now i think it may have been the actual probx strains too.)

I have never thought that i have a histamine intolerance and do not have 'allergic' symptoms except for stuffy nose and migraine, and an egg allergy.

Now I am looking for a 'safer' probiotic. ANyone have any knowledge of this?

Here is a good link about histamines and probiotics

This is my fav ..

http://www.customprobiotics.com/custom-probiotics-adult-formula-cp-1.htm

It does not cause me trouble with histamine and it's dairy free. I had to give up the VSL due to the dairy in it.

I also take Prescript Assist and Florastor.

Cotton; I have been having the same problem with histamine and food...getting migraine w/aura after almost every meal and something just is off. Came on after my last pulse of abx.'s and I think I have leaky gut going on...

I too am on the search for histamine degrading probiotics and piggy backing on what lymetoo suggested, custom has specific strains that are specific for histamine reduction.

I've been doing well with rotating between Theralac truflora and Prescript Assist. I also take the Jarrow brand of S.boulardii.

Custom Probiotics looks great and is what I will go with if I have to switch to something else.
