I had to go to Urgent Care tonight because I just could not stand the horrible sore throat and swollen lymph nodes anymore. Last night was the worst sore throat I'd ever had in my life.. worse than when I had Scarlet Fever! And thats bad!

So on the information sheet I did put that I take Zith for Lyme. Simple and sweet.
I'm not exactly sure the doctor even read it...(though he was very nice and concerned for me)

and he gave me a shot in the backside of Rocephin because I just didn't want to swallow any more pills with this awful sore throat.

Well..I didn't think to ask. Can I still take my Zith? I only take 250 mg twice a day. I don't know how much was in the Rocephin shot. I assume it was a decent, one time dose.

Are there any bad interactions between Zith and Rocephin? How long will the Rocephin stay in my system? Think I can continue with my zith?
I also got put on Tylenol with codine so I can sleep tonight.

And for that matter... what good is one shot of Rocephin? Will it really cure a throat infection?
He didn't say I should take anything else for it.

That is kind of bizarre that he only gave you one shot. Usually Rocephin shots are given daily...atleast for a few days if you have an infection. Did you get a throat culture? I would continue the Zithromax, but it always food to check with your doctor. Lots of people take those 2 meds together.

He did a throat culture and it came back neg. for strep. But he says he still thinks its bacterial because of my swollen lymph nodes. I don't have any typical viral symptoms (no sneezing, coughing, runny nose etc)

He said that if I start feeling better in 24 hours then I'll know it was bacterial and not viral.
But he didn't say I needed any more Rocephin. I'm sure he had no clue I am on Zith.

I was looking at side effects and drug info on Rocephin before my daughter started it, and several ppl took it for other infections and were injected on ly once. They said it was a wonder drug and such after only one injection! I "wonder" why it doesn't work that way for Lyme!

I take both Zithromax and Rocephin so don't worry about the interaction, especially from one shot.
