For the past 2.5 years, I haven't been able to go more than 3 or 4 days without abx. Every time I have tried to take a break from medication, I have met with serious cognitive issues, and some physical. My last abx break was 6 months ago and lasted 4.5 days...it got me pericarditis and an arrythmia I still have.
Well now 4 months after seeing Dr. J in Washington DC, I have finally gone more than a week without antibiotics and feel relatively normal. I feel slightly run down but no getting up to pee all night, wrist pain, inability to converse with others, chest pains, or increased heart palpitations. It's only a week but it's a big step for me...Dr. J calls it "immunological control" and soon it will be all I need.
It was acheived by pulsing abx, with increasing days off...first weekends, then 3 days, then 4, etc...He told me not to let symptoms get out of control, while making sure my immune system gets peaks at it and learns how to deal with it.
Just thought I should share. Talking way less meds is saving me a lot of money, helping my liver, controlling my yeast, and I am FINALLY seeing drastic results. Throughout this last 4 months of treatment I have felt consistently better than I have in the past two years.
Good luck everyone.

Burrascano has stated that rapid relapses -- ie, within a few days after stopping antibiotics -- is usually a sign of Bartonella. I don't recall if that's stated verbally in his Treatment Guidelines or not, but I have attended a couple of his seminars at ILADS conferences and I've heard him state this during his talks.
He has also stated that Lyme relapses generally tend to take longer -- a couple of months or even longer -- but that Bartonella patients usually can't go more than a few days to a couple of weeks without antibiotics.

migs, does Dr J have you on IV abx or have you been doing all oral? Pulsing seems like the way to go. Glad you are feeling so much better :-).

He is treating me with orals only. I am currently treating for Bartonella and Lyme but not Babesia. He has brought up Babesia treatment as next option, if this doesn't do the trick. We'll see...
No specific immune support. Just being asked to eat healthy and take lots of probiotics and multivitamins with extra Vit B and magnesium.

I would agree that a relapse that quickly, would almost have to be Bart. It only takes days to reproduce, from what I have seen.
Congratulations on your successful protocol. I hope you continue to improve.
