So good to read all the info here that everyone has shared. I had one other thought....
If someone's CD-57 was high and not low, doesn't that mean their immune system is working enough that they should produce a positive result for the bands on Igenex testing?
Thanks again

I have had this thought, too.
My CD-57 was high.
But when I had a stool analysis, it came back as my Secretory IgA (sigA) was "abnormally low".
The range was 51-204mg/dL. My level was 7.4mg/dL
The report said that sigA measures immunological activity in the gastrointestinal tract and is the body's first line of defense. Mine was/is almost non existant.
I had enough bands to be IGeneX positive, but not enough to be CDC positive. With my CD57 so high, I'm thinking I should've had more bands react than I did. But there's no doubt I have it.
I've just been wondering why part of my immune system is over the top, and another part is snoozing . maybe I just answered my own question. Maybe my CD57 is high to make up for the slack of sigA Posts: 1142 | From South | Registered: Dec 2010

ok...thanks...someone else said that to me too. My Igenex and CDC were both classified as negative and my CD-57 was 185 BUT I still wonder what a trial of antibiotics would do. I know you can't ever be sure. Some say yes and some say no. Thanks again..

I say yes. I drank colloidal silver to get a +++31kDa band...Proof enuf for me...
It has been shown to attach to the borrelia.

It is a known fact that this is what happens with Lyme affecting our immune systems.

"a weak positive for band 18"
If this was IgeneX did they print out '+' or "IND' ?? 18 (kPa?) is a pretty specific Lyme band. You shouldn't be showing it unless your body was battling a Lyme subspecies (...typically causing primarily neuro symptoms if 18 & 93 were showing, just FYI.)
Have you been ON any abx?? Like doxycycline? Did you "herx" after a day or so?? I would think any LLMD suspecting Lyme would'a put you on a trial run of "doxy" to see... for Sure! Your symptoms sound Very suspect for Lyme, in my opinion.

Kete-tracker....the 18 band was through Igenex and it was the only band that showed positive on the IgM part of the test....it was marked with just one +. I have not taken antibiotics yet.

I also meant to add that I think it is very strange that if band 18 is that specific to Lyme..( I believe you)..then I wonder why Igenex (who is considered very good) does not list band 18 as a specific band and does not double star it or include it as one that needs to be positive to have a positive test...makes no sense to me...

Hi Loripink01:
IGenex has to work in the legal world of this controversy. They can't determine Lyme unless it meets the criteria.
Without being an MD no one here can diagnose your symptoms but the Igenex results DO indicate "exposure" to the Lyme Borreliosis bacterium.
My daughter also is negative by the CDC and IGenex criteria but depending on which time she was tested she's been positive for bands 30 (also not an Igenex **) 34 & 41 with 34 and 39 IND. But of course never all on the same test to be positive.
The tests can help confirm the diagnosis.

Hi, I know what you mean...it's too bad that Lyme has to be so hard to diagnose with no clear cut guidelines. I can see why people get confused on all of it.. I hope your daughter is doing well at this point. Take care and thanks for replying.
