I can't seem to win...we suspect Bart is a huge problem for me.

Every time I try to treat it..my liver counts go sky high.

Example: This past Sunday (2/27) I started Rifabutin again along with a Flagyl Pulse. I had bloodwork done on Monday morning, 23 hours later.

LLMD just called me to say my liver counts were high again. Sigh.

It had only been 24 hours and my counts were high. The've always been a little high while on treament, but they jump when I go after Bart.

I already take 750 mg of Milk Thistle / day along with 2 Acetyl N-Cysteine's. I also drink lemon water.

What else can I do? I need to get Bart asap.

In the mean time, LLMD wants me to drop the Rifabutin and stay on Doxy and retest in 2 weeks. If it is okay, we can try again at a lower dose.

Have you tried other detox supplements like Pekana or Sydetox?

I take 6 NAC's and 4 milk thistle a day. Liver counts are always normal except for one test when I was on less of a dosage and it was just slightly elevated.

I also drink lemon water every day.

Christopher HObbs, one of the world-top phytotherapy authorities, has a wonderful book called Natural Therapy for your Liver.

I absolutely very highly recommend this book to anyone with liver issues. It is truly informative.

Milk Thistle, ALA, Vitamin E, Selenium, Vitamin C.

Dandelion Root tea usually helps, but it does stimulate the gallbladder (not sure if that's good or bad with Rifabutin/Flagyl + bart).

This is how I've been keeping my enzymes down.

Gluten free diet, as gluten intolerance can cause elevations in liver enzymes and going on antibiotics may alter gut flora sufficiently to cause gluten indigestion, resulting in a highertoxin load on the liver. Also, antibiotics themselves can alter liver enzymes...

I wonder about this too.

If gluten free and no antibiotics, what else could cause liver enzymes to be elevated?
