I was emergently and unexpectedly admitted to the hospital yesterday morning with an infected gallbladder full of stones. I am on IV antibiotics and waiting for my Coumadin level to come down so they can do surgery tomorrow. They are managing my pain and nausea as well.
The anesthesiologist just came in. He said that because of the myasthenia, intubating me for the surgery will be "tricky" and that he will leave it up to the doctor actually doing the surgery to decide exactly how to do it. Secondly, he said because of the myasthenia, I could wake up on a vent and I should be prepared for that. Hopefully that won't happen.
It's about a one hour surgery and I'll be getting propofol.
I've been in extreme pain and misery since last Thursday night when I had to go to the ER with a severe gallbladder attack. I made an appt with another surgeon who was "flabbergasted" that the one I saw last October did not take out my gallbladder. He said it was clearly indicated then. Now it is much, much worse. The surgeon said it wasn't even safe for me to go home and sent me directly to the hospital. My gallbladder was acutely infected.
The fun and games just never ends! Hopefully I won't face any complications and will be home by Saturday.

Wow tracey so sorry...You are in my thoughts and prayers...
Why is it that almost all the people with lyme have gallbladder issues? Something must be doing this?

I've had it done.. the thought is scarier than the procedure.. I'm sure you are in good hands.. I will be praying for you to have the best outcome possible..

Oh, Tracy, I'm so sorry to hear this! I am just getting over horrible gallbladder attacks myself---I know how painful they can be.
I pray that the surgery and recovery goes well, and that there are no complications. Afterwards, you will be free of this particular pain and misery.

Wow, I feel very comforted! Thanks for your many well wishes and prayers. They are much appreciated and incredibly helpful!
Melissa, had I had any warning I'd have gotten it tested but I literally went to the appt with the surgeon and he sent me straight to the hospital. No time to look for, print out, or figure out any lab instructions unfortunately. I did ask Blake to check into it, but that went nowhere!
IV Dilaudid knocking me out....going to catch some zzzzz's. Thanks again for all the support!

Good luck Tracy. Had mine out about 5 years ago. Rocephin caused my stones. When I got off, the stones went away. That was my bladder situation. They did It with the 3 small incisions, nonetheless, it's a medical thing and you've been through enough. Be well. God bless

when i wrote above i was so upset about something else happening to tracy that i forgot my gallbladder surg was one of the easiest i had. and with the best results. and like tracy i should have had it done 3 months earlier. the office ppl missed the pos on my test and filed it-so when i checked back 3 months later thye said i should have done it back then
i wasn't in as much distress as traccy...but i had a great outcome. so tracy and blake ..."think positive" this can all be good. and let us know how you are doing.

My surgery is scheduled in three hours; at 3:30 pm. I'm sure it will all go smooothly! Thank you all so much for your well wishes! I can't wait for this to be over with and to be recuperating and actually eating food again! I had a banana on Wednesday morning and nothing since. I'm hungry!

Ceftin caused my gallbladder to get full of sludge and inflammation. It was incredibly painful and I lost 20 lbs. However, after recovery I felt worlds better - and getting rid of the gallbladder cleared up a tremendous amount of toxicity issues I'd been having.
I hope your surgery and recovery gives you much relief, Tracy!

Tracy so sorry you're going through this. I will keep you in my thoughts. I was just admitted too, though not for my gallbladder they found a DVT. Hey maybe we can be hospital penpals LOL gotta find humor somewhere right.

Thank you for your well wishes everyone! I got home yesterday. Things were complicated as it had become an emergent situation. I ended up spending five days in the hospital. The surgery was a little more extensive than normal; my gallbladder was severely inflammed, full of stones, and my bile duct was completely blocked by stones but the surgeon did manage to get them out so I didn't have to have the second ERCP surgery.
I was very jaundiced but I'm finally coming back to my normal color. The pain was horrific, could not get it under control after surgery. They had to do a lot of work in there. I'm still in a lot of pain and recovery will be a few weeks. Lots of slicing and dicing and scraping.
It took 3 days to get my Coumadin down enough to operate, they had to give me Vitamin K shots because the gallbladder was about to blow. They got me into the OR Friday night. I felt bad, unhappy campers that had to stay on a Friday night, but they didnt' act it!
So glad to be out of there, let's just say I had the roommates from hell. The nurses and aides were AMAZING and I had such a fantastic surgeon!
They told me I'm very malnourished from the 8 months of hell I've been going through, unable to eat with the nausea, pain, and following the veggie only gallbladder diet for weeks at a time. I still can't really eat but it will get better. They want me on Ensure and supplements.
Things went way too far. That surgeon last Oct was way off when he said I didn't need it out.
Vrtualchik, are you okay? A DVT is scary stuff! I have a blood clotting disorder and I've had five blood clots. Is it in your leg? Mine were all in arms so not so bad. Keep us posted!

So glad that is over for you...what a surgery! Now you can heal and move forward. I wonder just how good you will feel with that gallbladder gone now with it being so bad? This could turn out to be a very good thing for you.

Tracy, I'm so glad to hear that you're home and the surgery is behind you. Now it's time to rest and heal. I presume that you will get plenty of help at home, since you won't be able to do a lot right now, I'm sure.
Wow, 8 months of that hell?! Too long.
I'm going through a similar problem since the third week in November--from the rocephin. I don't have stones, but I do have sludge, and have had 4 horrific gallbladder attacks, and plenty of pain in between. I'm trying to get rid of the sludge without surgery. But I'm getting a little discouraged, as the pain is still there on and off. Sigh. The surgeon thought that I might be ok this way. We'll see . . . I hope so. I've lost 14 #s with the nausea, etc.

Glad to read you are home safe and sound. I just saw this post today- must have been buried when I was around yesterday.
Hope you start feeling better soon. And I guess the doc in Oct is why in a serious situation we just automatically get a second opinion so we don't have serious problem.
That other doc was an idiot! Glad you made it out ok, and really hope you are out of pain and able to eat soon!
