Anyone have this happen to them? I don't think it is a Lyme thing, but maybe a side effect of medicine?
I have eyelashes growing way to close to the eyeball, not on the lash line. My eyes have been irritated for months, and I finally looked in the mirror to see what was going on. Won't be needing Latisse...
It's probably a genetic mutation, but I wanted to check and see if it happened to anyone else.

I had a patient once who had this. He had eyelashes growing on the thin line of skin between the regular line of eyelashes and the eyeball.
There is a name for this condition, although I don't remember it. I plucked the tiny hairs for him. The hairs rub against the cornea, causing irritation.

Yes, I've plucked the ones too close. But, my hairs aren't tiny (unless I can't see those) they are just like regular ones. Kinda gross. I looked it up and it looks like it is called distichiasis, which I don't know how to pronounce. Also happens to pure bred dogs and Elizabeth Taylor.
From what I understand it can be caused by medicine, irritation, an autoimmune disorder and a mutation.
I'd rather have it an odd side effect than a mutation. I'm going to make an appointment with an opthamologist tomorrow, but I'm not in a medical mecca...
thanks again,
gambler
