I was treated with IV antibiotics for 6 months with Zithro. I then took a break and went to oral. First with doxy, then biaxin and plaquenil. Took another break and tried Malarone and Zithro. That combo really killed me. Laying off for now, taking probiotics. Going to try again in a month. Start easy:}

My new insurance company will not cover Malarone, thus not on it anymore

I take it with IV Clindamycin. When I'm on my one week break from IV, Malarone is great ... no side effects. Combined with clinda, I have debilitating fatigue.

Allergic to zith, so I'm taking it with Ceftin.
Not sure how I feel about its effectiveness, but I'm not having any issues with it.

See if they will cover Mepron. Very close to Malarone, maybe even more effective.

Just curious-why you are all taking it instead of mepron. My LLMD feels it's better for babs ducani-yours?

my daughter took malarone with zith. Her LLMD said Malarone and Mepron are the same thing.

Malarone has another ingredient in it. I do better on malarone-although I am now up to 4 a day

I am going to switch to Malarone as I have reached a plateau with the Mepron/zithro. I added in Plaquenil last week and it is making a difference. I have also been taking artesunate but I don't feel it does much, if anything.
So I hope the second ingredient in Malarone will attack something. I have a couple of bottles of Mepron left that I bought from Canada and I will continue taking that as well. I will also continue the plaquenil.
I am going to pulse Coartem in between the switch. I need to get more aggressive and wipe this out - if that is possible. There must be a way. All I know is repeating the same thing over and over expecting different results is the diffinition of insanity. So I must move on.
