Hello... I was put on a 2nd abx in July that made me very very nauseaous and caused vomiting. I only took it for about a week and went back to LLMD, lost 7 pounds just from that 1 month of treatment.
He put me on another 2nd abx and it's been about a week n a half, 2 weeks, and it's now doing the same thing. My symptoms seem to be 10 times worse than before, I can't keep my eyes open or manage to get enough sleep, I'm still SO sick to my stomach that I can tell I'm losing more weight. Which is not good, because I'm pretty thin to begin with. I don't know how much more I can take. I've sat at my desk and just cried today (at work, great).. I want to give up on treatment, because I feel worse, but already have 4 months invested into this. Anyone else have the rapid sudden weight loss... What does an LLMD do when a patient cannot stomach all of these abx? I'm going to wither away to nothing.. Anyone have the urge to give in to the lyme? Thanks

I lost a lot of weight especially after going on the "candida diet".
Are you on this too? (High in protein and veggies and good fats, low in carbs/sugar)
Losing weight on ABX is normal. Are you taking your abx with food? I hope you are, they can be very rough on the tummy.
And how long have you been ill with lyme symptoms?
Treatment lengths vary for everyone, all of us at some point I'm sure have wanted to throw in the towel several times. It's ok to feel that way, cry, yell, do whatever you need to and then get yourself together to keep going!!
My doc puts me on herbals after a rough ABX round to give my body a break.
You should also be on a good probiotic. I like VSL#3. If you have insurance they might be able to cover the really awesome VSL#3 DS. They are prescription only.
I also like to eat the Quinoa Porridge someone posted here one time. It is a good carb that you can have while on candida diet that helps you keep some weight on.
Thats all the suggestions I can think of right now! I hope you find a way to dig out the courage you have deep inside you so that you can continue to fight this until you win

Check with your doctor, but I don't think he would want you to continue taking a medication that's making you so sick.
At least take a break, say three or four days, and see if the nausea subsides. If you can't get enough sleep or keep your eyes open at work, you'll be a menace on road.
When the Lyme bacteria die, they leave behind toxins that are poison to our nerves. What are you taking for liver support?

Thank u all for your kind words...fyrecracker- i am not on any kind of diet. I am currently taking ceftin and levaquin... The flagyl i was on last month is what made me ill. And now i think its the levaquin. I had no problems with the ceftin alone. I am also taking a b complex and multiviamin and on probiotics... Acidophilus. I have been ill with symptoms for prob about 4 years that i can remember. Shortly after having my 2nd child. Diagnosed finally 2 yrs ago and been on treatment sine may of this year.
Carol i am def going to check with my llmd next week.
I knew this wasnt gonna be an easy road...but its all breaking me down mentally. Im picking and choosing which bills to pay or what food to buy to be sure i have enough money for appoinments and scripts... It jus sucks.
And i know. Am rambling now but all of you are the only ones that understand... O everyone that knows me they say....well u dont look sick.. M sure everyone has heard that.. Just wish they onl knew. I dont know...maybe i need to go talk to a therapist or something.. Well gnite all. Thanks

Did you start the b-complex at the same time as the antibiotics? That can definitely cause nausea too (as well as the antibiotics of course). Maybe talk to your doctor about starting just one thing at a time to see what is causing what. My daughter takes tinidazole in place of flagyl and it greatly increased her appetite, and I remember someone else posting that it did the same to them. My daughter would say that her tummy hurt, but she also wanted to eat, eat, eat.

Doxycycline messed up my stomach pretty bad after two months, my doc switched me to ceftin and urged me to take l-glutamine to address the weight loss. The glutamine helps you absorb the protein, it stopped the loss but I havent gained it back either.

Levaquin and Cipro are horrible meds. I would drop them first. I know two LLMD's that never use them.
Ceftin is a great med for lyme. Take 1/4 Flagyl with it on the weekends to break the cysts.
Why are you on so many meds on once? No wonder you feel awful. You always work up on mini doses until you can tolerate.
Doxycycline can also make you lose your appetite. I lose 20 lbs when I have a relapse in just a few weeks.
Good luck.
