Day 4 of starting treatment. (was newly dx this month... so this is all pretty new to me.)
Think Im starting to Herx? It could just be a 'flare,' but the achiness feels more like when I get sick (cold/flu), than the pain from when I flare. It's a more full bodied ache than the particular intense pains I get when I flare (although, those pains never really go away completely- they just get less severe on better days/weeks =D) Also feeling pretty weak, shaky etc (but feel that way when I flare badly too). Of course, my hands/feet hurt pretty badly too again~ but that could also be from the bab/bart (can't remember which one), I think??
I have plans this coming weekend that i put on my calendar months ago (before dx) hoping I'd be having a 'good week' and feeling well enough to go! Now Im not sure how I'll be feeling in another 4 days???
When starting a new abx (or several ones).. how long does a HERX reaction typically last???
UGG! just want to kick this thing and get my life back. Thanks!

Day 4 is right on for your first herx. Aren't you happy to know that you are NORMAL!!??
You may feel bad for a few days, or it may be many days. I'm sorry to tell you that. If this is something you absolutely can't miss this weekend, you may want to ask your doctor if you can back off the meds until next week.

yes~ I've dreaded the herx but I'm also thankful for it. It means the abx are WORKING, right?! I'm killing those darn bugs that have been invading my body for far too long! Die bacteria, DIE!
The Lord has gotten me through the past 10 years of this debilitating illness (not knowing what the heck it was)... he can surely get me through the week. If I miss out on a weekend... it's all in the sake of getting the rest of my life back!
It's hard missing out on things... like holding my kids, or missing their football games... but I'm thankful for finally getting a dx and having a plan of attack!
So, I may or may not be feeling well this weekend... I can live with that knowing my future is a lot brighter now that I'm finally getting treated. =D Thanks guys!
