Been on Doxy 2 weeks (symptomatic for 10 weeks). Had a sore throat all along as a symptom.
Well, for the past few days, I've had a terrible sore throat, which moved to one side (left) yesterday.
It seems to be getting worse, so I just looked in the mirror with a flashlight and my left tonsil is super red, swollen three times as large as the other one, and has some white spots on it.
How is it possible to have a tonsil infection on 400mg of antibiotics? Is this some kind of Lyme herx, or should I go to a walk-in clinic tomorrow morning?
I've been taking probiotics religiously (up to 260 billion CFUs a day) and no problems anywhere else in my mouth so I don't think it's yeast.
I'd love to hear what you think!

It could be strep. Not all antibiotics are created equal. Did you have the sore throat before starting the antibiotics? Doxycycline will not fix all infections.

I've had a slight sore throat for the past 2 1/2 months, which got much worse the past few days. I assumed it was because I was herxing, as I felt much worse all over (body aches, headache, etc).
Should I go to a clinic?

When I was a child, I had recently had my appendix removed and when I got tonsillitis I was weak so my grandmother swabbed my tonsils with iodine and got rid of the infection.

Good idea! I don't have iodine, but I do have vinegar and mouthwash...gargling with those should help, I guess!

Better this morning! Feeling all-over better, too (I seem to have 5-day herxes). That is so weird...
