Absolutely Wrong! I urge her t check out the seeking Doctor section on ere and find a Doc close by who is Lyme literate.

One day?! I mean even 14 days is too short, but one day? Its not enough to get any effect at all.

I would say at the very least in MY OPINION she should have at least 30 days of Doxy at 400 mg twice a day.

Again this is only my opinion on dosing for her situation...going through what I have after only a 30 day course with initial treatment 6 years ago...well Im still under heavy duty treatment.

So I would reccommend springing to pay the money to see a LLMD and avoid years of possible issues.

All that being said...Good Luck to her.

Personally, *I* would want 200mg twice a day for 6-8 wks. Your friend does NOT want to go chronic! And she WILL if she only takes one day's worth of doxy!!

send her this link:

www.TreatTheBite.com

She can go to Seeking a Doctor here to find a dr in her area who will treat her properly.

a few tips:

1. The bullseye is DIAGNOSTIC OF LYME .. she HAS it.

2. Take a photo of the rash!! Get one photo with her face in it, if possible. One with a ruler or coin next to it.

She can also draw a line around it with a marker and if/when it grows, take another photo. She may NEED this for proof later!!!

3. Tell her to go to a walk-in clinic for more doxy. She can ask them if they want to be held responsible for her going chronic if they under treat her.

Your friend can call the lyme support groups in her area to see if they know any doctor who will treat for 30 days.

She needs to take a picture of that bulls eye rash. Then, she can go to various walk-in clinics and show the rash (or the picture, if rash has faded) and say how sick she is feeling. They will often give 14 days of doxy (200 mg per day).

If she can get enough through walk-in clinics, she can take 400 mg per day (that is 200 mg twice per day). It must be taken with a full meal or it will cause stomach upset.

Eat half the meal, take the doxy, and eat the other half of the meal.

She can also try a dermatologist. Ours gives 14 days of doxy if you come in with the bulls eye and say you saw the tick on you there.

If all else fails, she can order doxycycline on-line without a prescription. This thread tells you how:

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/109000?

So, she should make every attempt possible to be on doxy for 30 days. If she has no other symptoms during that 30 days, then she should be fine. Not all bulls eye rashes result in lyme disease. Some strains of lyme just give the rash and no sickness whatsoever.

However, if she gets symptoms during the 30 days, then she needs more treatment. She needs to treat for at least 30 days beyond the date she no longer has symptoms. That will require seeing a lyme doctor. See "Support Groups" on left side of page to find your lyme support groups in your area and in your state.

She should keep that picture forever. If she gets sick down the road, even years later, she will want to show that picture to a lyme doctor.

She should date the picture also.

Give her the Burrascano LYme Treatment Guidelines to read also. They are found here:
