I take 160 MG of Knotweed, in a very good real food pill. I have seen people going much higher than that. I have just found green dragon Japanese Knotweed online at a very good price. It is also a much higher dosage. I take a lot of ABX and herbs already, I was wondering if it might be better to jump up to 450 mg twice/day and see if it helps. I know there are mamy docs and patients touting Japanese Knotweed, especially for Bart.
Is Green Dragon a good supplier? How many people have found Japanese Knotweed to be as helpful as it is rumored to be? Is a high dose necessary?

If you go to Buhnerhealinglyme.com, there are dosages for the herbs on the home page. Also Paradise herbs make a pretty good resveratrol product.

I take the Swanson 250 resveratrol 3 times per day. I believe it's of a decent quality and it's fairly inexpensive.

Hi! I buy the whole herb in bulk from "1st Chinese Herbs". (They also sell it in capsules.)
I take about a teaspoon three times per day. I go by how my body feels with the dosage. In Buhner's book "Healing Lyme", he talks about the dosage of knotweed if using bulk whole herbs.
I find it helps tremendously with mood swings, irritability, cognitive function, inflammation. It also seems to lessen other physical symptoms.
In his book, Stephen says it helps to remove neurotoxins, along with helping many other issues.
ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS THAT IT DOES is shut down the exact inflammatory pathways of the immune system which Lyme uses to propagate itself in your body. (Lyme spirochetes initiate this pathway.)
It also has been shown to kill another type of spirochete.

Stephen Buhner suggests starting with a low dose and gradually increasing.
Lymeboy if started with a high dose, you might be herxing a bit.
79inpa, yes Knotweed has a very good purpose, good for Lyme, inflammation, heart disease, blood pressures and more.

This board has a nasty habit of calling everything a herx.
Many (most) times we are simply stirring up the infections resulting in an increase in symptoms.
Knotweed is an herb that has direct effects against the ACTIONS of Bartonella/Lyme. But it isn't much of a killing herb (like Garlic).
Knotweed modulates the immune system, reduces inflammation, and blocks angiogensis. It also helps with circulation and is a carrier-type herb that goes well with abxs and other antimicrobials because it helps increase their effects.
But Knotweed is not much of a killing agent.

According to Buhner, it does kill Borrelia. And the 2 LLMD's and 2 LLND's I saw all agreed that my reaction to knotweed was a herx.
So what else could it have been if it wasn't a herx? After 1 week of Knotweed, I could no longer eat or drink anything suddenly.
I was hospitalized, severely dehydrated and in ketoacidosis (rare in a non-diabetic like me), and my GI tract had completely stopped functioning.
It took 3 1/2 years to get back to where I could eat without needing IV nutrition support. I still have trouble swallowing, but at least I can eat/drink again now.
What else could this have been if not from a herx?
