My wife and I have been trying to conceive for the past 3 months (unsuccessfully.)
We had zero issues with our first 2 kids. First time we tried both times we were successful.
Could the meds or Lyme be to blame? I am on a break now so I'm not worried about me this month.
But my wife is also on Zith / Omnicef for a mild case of lyme and we want to take the necessary precautions.
Could these abx be affecting her ability to conceive? Should she come off while we are trying to conceive and then to right back on afterwards?
Just wonder what others thought.

In my opinion, if you both have Lyme you should both be treated especially if trying to conceive. Some people believe Lyme and co-infections can be sexually transmitted, but I don't think this has been proven.
Would it be better to wait until you and your wife have been completely symptom free?
I believe that Lyme can sometimes cause miscarriages, but I don't know if it can cause difficulty conceiving.

Thanks Sammi:
We can't wait as we're not getting any younger.
She is on Dr. J's pregnancy protocol (Zith + Omnicef) which he says is 99% effective.

I am about to post the hulu link to the PBS aired Lyme Documentary: "Under Our Skin"
Please watch it. Especially the segments concerning the Lyme mother in Connecticut.
Despite your wife's fertility treatment, and the fact that you are both in varying treatment stages for Lyme, I expect you would not want to conceive children who are likely to suffer with Congenital Lyme.
The Lyme Spirochete looks like Syphillis. LLDs say it must be treated with long-term antibiotics, just as Syphillis is treated.
If I were you, I'd table the fertility treatments until you both get the "all clear."
I wish you only the best.

AuntyLynn:
I've seen UOS dozens of times. Thanks for the concern. Dr J (the most experienced LL Pediatrician) says the Zith / Omnicef combo is 99% effective in pregnancy.

I think the lyme can affect getting pregnant. I do agree that you too should be treating while trying to conceive. I am almost positive it was passed from my husband to myself.
By treating yourself, it might help your wife conceive.
If you want another baby! Thats Great!!! I gave lyme to my children w/ out knowing I had it and I wouldnt change it for the world.
If you conceive, then the baby was meant to be here, nomatter what the circumstances!!
Good Luck and dont get too stressed about it.
