I don't think you can absorb glutathione orally. It's probably a waste of money to try any oral supplements unless they developed some new technology I don't know about.
You can try making your own liposomal glutathione. I posted the recipie a bunch of times...
You can buy it already made, too. I think you have to go with an IV, otherwise.

Dr. H. recommends liposomal glutathione. Sounds like the suppositories are better than that if you can get them.

I have an 'absent' glutathione gene, so my LLMD says that I will always need to supplement in some form.
She has me on a liposomal glutathione and some precursors [NAC and glycine]. Alpha lipoic acid is another, but a once daily dose [of ALA] may not be suitable if you have a heavy metal problem.
I also have the newer acetyl-glutathione [Nutricology], which is supposed to be better absorbed at cell level....I use that form when travelling, as it comes as small tablets. I haven't yet tried the suppository form.
I eat widely from the foods mentioned in TF's link.
Sadly, all the more effective versions of glutathione are pretty expensive, but as it is so vital for detoxifying, it makes sense to supplement it, especially if, like me, you have had the Detoxi-Genomic test and know that your body may have problems.

I use glutathione creme from a compounding pharmacy. It seems to help me. Your doctor has to write a script.

Sparkle, interesting info on making your own liposomal glutathione. I did try liposomal glutathione for a couple of months but I don't think it did anything.
Ukcarry, I too may have detox issues......I'm in the process of doing methylation testing. What brand of liposomal glutathione are you taking?
Is the acetyl glutathione from Nutricology the S Acetyl Glutathione? Do you notice a difference between liposomal and acetyl g.?
jlcd1, can you tell me more about the glutathione creme. What ingredients are in it? Is there a specific type my doctor should ask for? What benefits have you noticed?

Thank you TF for the thread on glutathione. I have tried the liposomal glutathione that Dr. H recommends but I don't think it did anything.

The label says 'new bilayer tablets - quick + susained release N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine - anti-oxidant and glutathione precursor"
wondering about liposomal too cleo.

I tried making liposomal vit. C & it came out very good. I haven't tried making the glutathione. I'm going to make it soon - I just have gotten distracted with other things.
If it's as good as the vit. C - it may be worth thr effort. I'm also thinking of making liposomal curcumin.

so the container says glutathione (reduced) 250MG/ML
I apply 0.5 ML 2x/day. It's refrigerated, and they told me to rub it into my forearm's where it is best absorbed. My head feels a little bit clearer right after I rub it in.
It's about $50 every month for me

I haven't tried the xymogen product but the only oral glutathione that did anything for me was acetyl-glutathione. I think it was made by Maple Company.
I read about it in a book that was written by an LLMD. I think it was called the lyme disease solution?

I think it's very hard to tell in the short term how much any glutathione [except IV] is helping someone with a genetic problem because it has potentially years of toxic accumulation to work on. Additionally, when taking the Acetyl-G,I have often taken half dose, as it's quite expensive!
My liposomal brand is called Essential GSH and it's by Essential Nutraceuticals [I get it from my LLMD].
I've been taking that for almost a month. Can't say I feel any effects, but maybe they aren't supposed to be immediate.

There is a patch made by LIFEWAVE. It simulates the body to produce glutathione. I have used it a short time. It was recommended by one of the doctors that treats methyl cycle mutations and he is a heart surgeon, so I guess it works.

You can also do a coffee enema. That's supposed to boost glutathione levels. Some of these products are quite expensive.
I hate spending all that money on a product & you don't really know if it's effective. I've read some conflicting opinions about glutathione. It's a complicated subject. I think there are different approaches in regards to supplementation.
It depends on mercury exposure & methylation genetics. I'll try to post anything I find here when I get a chance.

Have you noticed any detox reaction from the patches, Nefferdun?
The makers make a bold claim that the patches boost levels of glutathione by 300% within 24 hours. I have read quite a lot of marketing stuff about them, but not many testimonials.
Has anyone else tried the patches?

jcdl, I wonder if the glutathione cream would be better for someone who may have methylation/detox issues......did your llmd prescribe this for you?
TerryK, how long did you use acetyl g......what benefits did you notice? Did the author of the lyme book recommend the Maple company?
Nefferdun, I would also be interested hearing your opinion of the LIFEWAVE patch after you've been on it for a little while......if it's good for those with methyl cycle mutations this would be something I may want to try.
Sparkle, you're right, these products are very expensive.......I hear about coffee enemas all the time but I have not had the nerve to try it.....I think I need to bite the bullet and try it.
I wonder if I would have to do an enema a day to get similar benefits of oral glutathione......does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks, sparkle to the link about glutathione controversy......this issue is so complicated and confusing!

I put one on this morning and had some dizziness which they say is an indication of detoxing. I feel more lightheaded and spacey when I wear one.
When I had insomnia and anxiety from chloroquine I panicked and put on one and then two patches (which you aren't supposed to do) and my poor husband had to rescue me from the looney bin. The only other time I had a similar experience was when I took DMSA for three days.
I realized the patch may be contributing to my out of the world experience and removed them after a couple of hours. By afternoon, I was nearly fine.
So, I think they do stimulate something. They tell you not to wear them more than 18 hours and to remove them if you experience uncomfortable detox reactions like headaches, dizziness etc. They are very expensive but I will get them again.
As this just stimulate gluatathione (it is not transdermal) I believe it is a good idea to be sure you have the precursors to making glutathione. If there is any possibility you may have MTHFR, then get the methylfolate. Also ALA, and n acetyl cysteine if you don't have the CBS mutation (no reactions to sulfa).

Sounds like an "out of world experience" may be fun... nefferdun. LightWave seems interesting but the site looks like a multi-level marketing thing. I'm a bit skeptical but if you say it worked - great!
It's so hard to tell with these things. Mercury mobilization - no mercury mobilization...?
It's not that hard to do the coffee enema. Some people do them every day - especially people doing the Gerson protocol for cancer. I don't think it's a good idea if you don't have something extreme, though. I could be wrong. I'm sure once a week or so wouldn't be a bad thing.
NAC is supposed to be a precursor. When I dowse my supplements - I get a "yes" for that one quite often.

The lipo glute never helped. I think Scott better health guy is using what I am using the last I heard.

I'm glad you mention the precursors, Nefferdun, as I was wondering whether the patches would work on someone like me with one absent glutathione [GSH] gene, since their action is to stimulate your own production of GSH rather than to 'transmit' GSH.

Nefferdon, thanks for sharing your experience with the Lifewave patch......I may decide to give it a try......the only concern I have is that I am already dealing with nuero stuff (i.e. weird head numbness/pressure, off balance feeling) I would hate to make it worse.....but I guess I won't know how it will affect me until I try it
Sparkle, you're probably right.....daily coffee enemas may be a little too much.....I will start out slow with one or two a week.
Healing in Santa Cruz, thanks so much for your info on Allergy Research Glutathione.....I will call pure formulas to order it. What is a reverse coffee latte.....is this like a coffee enema?
jlcd, did your llnd prescribe transdermal glut. because it is better absorbed this way?
