Garlic is pretty tough on an empty stomach. I take mine fresh with supper, usually crush it or get a mouthful of water and chew a bit, then swallow.

It is suppose to work better if crushed first, something about a reaction to oxygen, but I haven't noticed a difference between crushing or chewing, only if I miss too many days in a row.

What brand are you taking? Taking it in the middle of a meal? That should help.

Maybe, garlic is just not your thing. Some people can't process it. If you have an upset stomach, I would not eat raw garlic until that has settled down.

I did very well with Hepapro Allicin, even on an empty stomach. www.hepapro.com
