I have been on treatment of doxy and biaxin now for 6 weeks and for the last 3 weeks I have been much more depressed , anxious and spaced out and it doesn't seem to have any end in sight. I also cry every day.

What is going on , why am I continuiously worse than before treatment ?

Is this normal? Is this a herx that just hasn't stopped yet ? Can a herx last this long

I feel so hopeless and discouraged that I will never even return back to how I was before treatment

Please give me some insight as to what is going on?

I feel the same way maya. Since Iv in feb. a few breakthroughs and then a mind that's turned against my personality. I understand.hoping it passes soon. I'm too numb and confused to cry, mind and body are one. Hard to say its part of a process, mental torture, but how many on this board feel like this. Hopefully more will answer. God bless.

Hey Lyme I am so sorry that you Are still feeling this way. My heart breaks for you and I wish I could reach through the screen and give you a big hug . Have you had any improvements with this new treatment?

How long we're you sick with these horrible mental symptoms before you ever started treating? Even years ago?

I would love to hear from others as well

maya hon, six weeks is nothing. i've been going around this since the early 90's and some of here have been fighting it for 20 or 30 years.

i'm sure my parents had it their entire lives.

hang in there. it will get better believe me. you just have to have faith in your doctor and recommend that slow and steady wins the race.

do your meditations, warm baths, reading, soft music, etc.

i hope you have plenty of support to help you.

when i get really really down (and this sounds absolutely ridiculous), i get my stuffed animals out and hug them. helps...

Hey randi do you mean it's not uncommon at all for a herx with the above mentioned symptoms that have worsened since starting treatment to last for like 6 weeks or more at the start of treatment?

And that the worsening can last a while before feeling any improvements?

Is this what your saying sorry I am cOnfused, my darn brain is mush right now

And I am reying to go slow and steady but I do sometimes have periods of like 20 mins at a time where I feel better.

My head just feels like it is stuffed full of cotton

I get super long herxing also. I have been on doxy and mepron for about the same amount of time as you. I recently added zith.

I got an okay week in the 2nd week but now I've been terribly herxing since then. My doctor doesn't think it's common to herx this long, but he said if people have high levels of bacteria in their body, they will herx very strongly and for longer lengths of time.

Detoxing helps a little. For me the best thing for herxing is glutathione IV's.

That's so funny summer my second week was the best so far too . The past 2 days have been slightly better than last week

I can't wait to start on Bart treatment in like 2 months , I have a feeling that will help a lot.

Funny thing , I also started flagyl today and may actually feel the slightest bit less detached

If you are on biaxin for Bart, does the Bart also hide in he cysts and by taking flagyl you release more Bart to be killed?

Also don't doxy , flagyl and biaxin hit fl1935?

Also some of my brain fog could be from more lead being released into my system as bacteria are killed?

Any thoughts on any of my theory's

And summer I guess it isn't common to herx this long but my llmd says 2 to 3 weeks is very normal and I am sure my bacterial load is very high , I went undiagnosed for 16 years

NORMAL as heck. And don't forget that you will have an "extra" herx every 3-5 wks.

Maya - My herxes are usually the worst the first week on a new med, but we are all different. Also, I usually have a bad stretch about once a month, which is pretty normal I gather.

It has helped me to keep a daily log of symptoms - it really helps to see patterns. I bought an extra calendar that I use just for this and I just write a few notes in it every day - what new med I started, main symptoms or if it was a good day, etc.

Also, on the bad days, keeping a log helps me to feel a little more in control of things, and reminds me that good days will come again.

Finally, it may be a good idea to call your LLMD and report how you are feeling. If you're miserable and it's getting worse, don't wait til the next appt.! Depressed and crying may mean you need an anti-depressant or maybe he will adjust your meds if he thinks that's a side effect.

I have actually talked to my llmd about this And I am already taking a low dose of rameron nightly just to helpe a bit.

Unfortunately as she says there is nothing easy about this battle and I have to fight as best I can and take little breaks If I need to.

She has also told me to not expect any improvements for at least 3 months and even then they will only be very little.

Hang in there. I just came out of a 7 week or so herx. It happened random. No change in treatment. But I feel better than I did before. Felt like one of those terrible 24 hr. bugs that lasted for 2 months.

Stick it out. You'll get there. Remeron should help you sleep too.

Maya, no I had my usual brain fog, depression, and anxiety extremely amplified. I also had muscle pain, headaches, vibrating.

Everyone is different depending on where the infections are at. You'll prob want to quit treating 80 times, but don't. Tough it out, you'll be better for it.

The only thing I wonder though to is after all these crappy symptoms and what has been taken away with it like my soul and my brain and personality, can you really ever get those back?

And get things like hopes and dreams and interests and happiness and contentment back.

I mean really get back to who you used to be when you were happy and full of and in life?

Maya, this has happened to me at least 4 times since 2004' the only thing this is lasting longer, I'm getting older and it feels more intense. I hate it cause I suck in life, like all. Different circumstances make it worse and I kept getting slammed for a year and a half of stress, family fighting, teenager, taking care of my father for 14 years and I was zoned for his illness and unexpected death. I got my life back and it was like I never questioned anything, just back to me, the horror of it is time goes by that you cant get back and waking up everyday not knowing what frame of mind you're going to be in. Wanting to make a plan can't be done cause you're not sure how stable you'll be for the day. God sees all and knows our hearts even though minds are so messed up. My llmd said its perception, I'm just so sad that my mind could go to places that I didn't know existed. You'll get there, its just something that sux your life out of you, write when you want. You'll be ok.
