My daughter is positive for MTHFR and doc advises deplin. I am certain I have this too and all my family on my side . She is going to take deplin . My question is , how can I correct this without deplin ? Do I just take more ( higher dose ) of folic acid ? I do not have insurance and can not afford more medical expenses . Any suggestions are very appreciated!

No, you can't just take higher doses of folic acid. Thorne makes an over the counter 5-mthf and also a combo product called methyl-guard. There are other companies that make it too.

Thank you VERY MUCH ! Sounds like the lmethyl product will work as a substitute for deplin to correct the issue . I hope this is right .
