Mom: + for 1 copy of A1298C (heterozygous)
Dad: has not been tested
Son1: + for 1 copy of C677T (heterozygous)
Son2: + for 1 copy of C677T (heterozygous)

What does this mean? What is the difference between A1298C and C677T?

That means Dad has at least one copy of C677T and more than likely two as both children have one copy.

But MTHFR is just one gene and not necessarily the most important discovery. Get Dad test for the complete methy panel test - all 30 mutations. He is probably at high risk of cardiovascular disease. Whoever is sick should be tested first but everyone should know so they can prevent disease.

I just got my results back. I am heterozygous for MTHFR but that is not "redlined" in my results. What is most important for me is being CBS homozygous, NOS homozygous with several MTRR heterozygous. There are other mutations that cause quirks in treatment.

My results would be meaningless to you just like my clothes will not fit you. Point is, we are HIGHLY individualized. My results are not the same as yours. Even if we both have one of the same copies such as MTHFR C677T, putting it together with the OTHER mutations we have makes treatment highly individualized. This needs to be carefully studied if it is ever going to be effective.
