I'm looking for a probiotic that is reasonably priced, strep free and contains sacromysis balardi. Do any of you have suggestions? Also, my 25 yr. old son's stomach hurts after taking the probiotic he has. Is there one that is easier on the stomach? Thanks.

Not too sure if it contains sacromysis balardi, but Kefir has been amazing for me. 1/2- 1 cup a day and you can probably have less, it's just that I've taken a real liking to it.
I don't even take my prescribed probiotic any more, VSL #3, which is also very good. I like Kefir better.
You can make your own and save on expenses.

You usually have to buy s.boulardii separately. They have a kids' Florastor. I would buy dairy free probiotics in case it's the dairy he is reacting to.
I like Custom Probiotics or Jarrow Dairy Free.

VSL does contain the strep strain, you mentioned you didn't want that---
I avoid strep strain for my daughter, and give her custom probiotics, theralac, Klaire DETOX (the one without the word detox in title has strep strain.)
She has always reacted very negatively to sacc. B, so I avoid that, too.

My kids and I all take VSL. Should we be supplementing with another? BTW, got insurance to cover it. Doc writes Rx for VSL DS and it has worked. We just have our co-pay.

I love the Natural Factors Double Strength Acidolpholis & Bifidus (sp), sorry for bad spelling. I get it at Whole Foods. I don't understand what you're talking about in regards to the "strep strain"?? 180 capsules for about 23 or 24.00 a total of 10 billion active cells.
Mine contains L. Rhamnosus 8.0 billion L. acidophilus 1.0 billion B Bifidum 1.0 billion Other ingredients are: lactose, whey powder, goats milk, gelatin capsule, purified water, pectin, magnesium stearate (vegetable grade), ascorbic acid.
You have to find it in the refrigerated vitamin section.. and take it right home when you buy it or have a cooler ready to keep it cool if doing other shopping..
Hope this helps you.. this has always worked for me.. and sometimes the stomach trouble could tell you that it's actually working and killing the bug which causes die off and that could be the source for tummy trouble. Try more detoxing, epsom salts baths, ionic foot baths and sweating, coffee enemas etc..
blessings..

Strep strain is:
Streptococcus thermophilus
Some of us who have had children with PANDAS, or a severe strep infection problem, or children on the autism spectrum
may find that individual 'set off' / sensitive to this strain-
and therefore avoid it. This particular strain of probiotic is also in just about every yogurt and kefir, except Lifeway brand.
