<<<<< Lyme Family >>>>>,

Hi there,

I am having to take generic Keflex, for a dental problem and sinus infection.

With tight finances, what can I do to ease the abdominal pain, and discomfort. We are talking as if someone punched my upper abdomen rt.side,

and then kicked the lower abdomen while I was trying to breathe thru the pain. No no one has hit me kicked me etc. it's the ABX.

I had tho't to get some good yogurt tomorrow after I see the dentist, and maybe get some inexpensive acidophilus.

Any other ideas? I cannot do the full dose, but am doing the best I can w/ the half dose [1000mg.s]. Most ABX just isn't agreeing w/me.

The pain has gotten to me...and I am a tearful blob right now.

Snifflin' Silverwolfi here

PS...just thinking, hoping my fall in the toilet the other day didn't sprain an already tender and upset abdominal area.

Oh dear... if you've been taking the abx without probiotics then you are way behind. It will be hard to catch up.

I would elmimiate any sugar or white foods from your diet right now. No fruit either.

Get some Culturelle. If you buy really cheap acidophilus, it's not any good. Walgreen's and most drugstores will have Culturelle.

Hope you feel better soon!! I really do!

Hi <<<<< Lymetoo >>>>>,

I should have tho't , but I've been out of acidophilus and enzymes etc. for a bit...had to wait on this payday.

I'll check on the Culturelle,I didn't think about the fruit... but it is full of sugar, even if natural.

I've been trying to eat sort of light, rice and so on... but even that may not be the best...

Thanks for the reply and the info', I wasn't really thinking about the lower cost acidophilus not being very effective.

Will see what we can come up w/ after my appt. tomorrow. Dentist might even suggest I can go off the darn ABX we'll see.

ABX usually make me feel fluish and achy [sometimes a bit of diarrhea],but not like I got punched or kicked in the abdomen.

I'll be updating, when we find out if I have a cyst ,abscess or what,on my upper gum. I've been fighting the sinus infection, which hasn't been helping, and may have caused the dental issue??!

I don't think Culurelle is real expensive. But I understand your financial concern!

Hey <<<<< Lymetoo >>>>>,

We'll check the pricing tomorrow, hopefully it's not too high.

TxCoord has been having quite the discussion w/ the VA on his appeal, for the Diabetes neuropathy, and so on... they are dragging their heels so to speak.

We aren't the only ones, so many Military/former Military folk are in a holding pattern... just trying to make ends meet.

It hit's home, when one is trying to pay bills, buy food, and meds etc. At least the prescriptions I can get, mostly, on the $4.00 plan.

The stress isn't helping. ANd we are losing our Critter Sitter [foster granddaughter ]. She is going overseas to work, and has a nice young fella waiting for her there.

[Smile] Happy for foster granddaughter, sad for us...we'll miss her!

Thanks again!

Silverwofi, I'm so sorry you're going through this and totally understand.

In a nutshell, I was on Ceftin & ended up with C Diff a couple months ago. Then UTI & bladder got soo painful from any abx. Painful stomach is not fun!!

Please, somehow if you're on Keflex take Lymetoo's advise. The probiotic is a must! Several doctors told me Florastor-2 or 3 times per day- and a nurse said to add Kefir (a probiotic drink).

Take care of yourself ... you're in my prayers! Wish we were neighbors, I'd share some probiotics with you [Wink]

If you go to culturelle.com they have some coupons. I usually pay about $20 for it. Kefir is not very expensive about $3.50-$4.00 a bottle.
You could have a glass once a day or more often if needed.

I have IBS as well and the abx have been tough at times. I currently use culturelle, kefir, acidophilus and a probiotic.

I wish I was close by too!!

Thanks for the coupon link, Ellen!! That is great!

Silver.. if you buy Kefir, get the one with the least amount of sugar.

Hi <<<<< DKat >>>>>,

Thanks for the reply, and ideas! We'll see what we can find after dentist appt. tomorrow.

I wondered about Kefir, have never tried it. I'll write the names down, and if I can't get into the store after I see the dentist, TxCoord can go in.

I'm wondering if that 'Activia' yogurt,is to sugary for me ,it might help too, depending on price and sugar content.

I have IC so I can relate on kidney bladder,UTI, stuff. Right now my back of hip areas hurt, don't know if it's all the ABX and sinus issues,or the fall in the toilet a few days ago now.

Thanks again!!!

Jus' Silverwolfi snifflin' a way.

Hi <<<<< Ellen101,and Lymetoo too [Smile] >>>>>,

Thanks for the info' and price quotes!

I type slower than turtles run...or snails crawl.

Yep, I figured, to be checking sugar on Kefir, yogurts and so on. 'IBS' is so doggone painful, especially when on ABX.

I try to keep sugars fairly low, because of the Diabetes and yeast mess along w/ the Lyme and Co's.

Have to eat w/ the ABX, and that has been interesting to say the least. I've been worried about becoming allergic,I am allergic to way to many meds... Oy...

I will keep on fighting tho' and TxCoord helps as much as he can too...we sorta muddle thru our various physical problems together.

Wish we lived near some of y'all...we feel sorta isolated at times.

You can make Kefir yourself, from the powdered starter, and it's alot less expensive than the bottled stuff.

Yogourmet, Freeze-Dried, Kefir Starter, 1 oz
http://www.iherb.com/Yogourmet-Freeze-Dried-Kefir-Starter-1-oz/12071

I use only half the recommended amount of starter powder, and it works fine.
Since my whole milk is already pasteurized, I just warm it up and add the powder.

I put the quart jar of kefir in the cupboard, and 24 hours later it's done.
If the kitchen is cold, like in the winter, it takes two days.

Hi <<<<< Carol in PA >>>>>,

Thanks for the info' and link. TxC' and I can take a look at this and see if it is something we can do.

Neither of us stands up for very long at a time in the kitchen...but it would be a fun experiment.

I am curious to see if Kefir helps, I have to get this mess under control. The pain makes me even more weary.

I appreciate the reply!

We're back...Ta Dah!!!

Hi <<<<< Lyme Family >>>>>,

Got into the dentist: -1st- it was the wrong dentist, same complex.[We later found where I was supposed to go and they cancelled for us].

-2nd- they did a free check up and X-rays.

-3rd- I do not have a cyst or an abscess!!! YAAAHY!!!!!

-4th- I have a TORI [pronounced Tor-eye], they are a somewhat unusual bone growth on the upper Gum. I have some on both sides. My rt.one got swollen up.

-AS long as the swelling doesn't further worsen, am okay. I do have to be conscious of these bone growths when eating foods w/ a hard crust,or crunchy vegetables.

When I have a sinus infection as,now, they may swell somewhat.

If either 'Tori' gets badly swollen and wont heal w/ ABX etc.,They could do a surgery...but the surgeries are painful.Dentist said not to do surgery unless it became severe.

I have them under my tongue as well[I knew what the ones under my tongue were]. They used to call them Mandi-bioti,new term? is Mandibular Tori.

Was surprised that the Tori was swollen...not sure what the upper ones are called... Canine Tori[??] Perhaps, as these are above the Canine frontal teeth.

ANyhows I have: salt water, Sovereign Silver and Ambesol till this gets better...plus the ornery ABX. SO no tasty crunchy hard crusted anything for a few days foods wise.

But also No injections, no cutting, no fee!!!

Tomorrow I get some Probiotic, and some softer foods, and we'll see how it goes!

Just relieved Silverwolfi-Sorta- Sniffley w/ -Sensitive gums bumps.

Kefir has less sugar than Activia... and will last longer.

Ahhh....Tori.

I think that they are somehow due to tick borne infection, as another Lymie told me that he had them, under his tongue.

Silverwolfi, I'm so glad to hear that you are OK and that you don't have an abscess in your gums. What a relief!

I have a hard time tolerating Keflex too. That stuff makes my stomach feel like it's on fire and I can't keep down food with it. It works well for the infections if you can take it.

Hopefully you will be able to get some no sugar added yogurt of kefir and some culturelle soon. That may really help calm your upset stomach too.

Hope you start to feel better soon [Smile]

<<<<< Lymetoo, Carol in Pa,and sammy >>>>>,

I'll be checking on the Kefir, Probiotics and so on tommorrow.

Gotta get my abdominal area and sinuses back in line.

The Mandibular Tori [Mandi-bioti] I have are under my tongue, so I am really curious about these bone growths. They've not really bothered me 'til this one on my upper gums got so sore and swollen.

The folk at the dental place said that the skin over them is thinner,so I am going to have to use more caution in what/and how I eat now.

I'd hate to end up needing a surgery to take excess bone off...yipes!

I am so relieved tho' that it wasn't abscessed or cyst-ed up.

Thanks to each one for replies, prayers and kind, healing tho'ts!!!

I'll update on how this is going as things progress, w/ hopes for it all to heal quickly!!!

Okay we've been looking up words!

Hi there <<<<< Lyme Family >>>>>,

So evidently the singular Tori are plural-Torus if there's more than one.

I have inner Mandibular Torus[under my tongue] ,and outer Maxillar Torus on the upper gum. The right Max'Tori is the problem child right now.

So I am trying to behave and not eat hard or overly crunchy foods, and to be watchful how I wield my tooth brush as well.

If I can get my tender tummy to settle, after a bit we can go get some Probiotics, enzymes and something soft, like Kefir.

I'll be checking for low sugar content, and the best for the least price. But I am looking forward to getting somethings to help me feel better!!!

Thanks again for the help and suggestions!!!

You can also call Custom probiotics and he will send you a free sample. The probiotics are very high quality and potency. A bottle of the powder is about $70 but lasts 2 months. He sent us samples that lasted for 2 months too. Each dose is like 400 billion. Hope you feel better soon.
