First of all, is there any indication at all that my child could have Lyme or any co-infection? It seems that he has some "activity" on his results...what does this mean?
2. What do the numbers mean? Are the same numbers listed in everyone's results?
3. What do the asterisks mean? What does the amount of asterisks mean ( * vs. **)?
4. IGG and the IGM.... In my understanding the IGG represents past infection...and the IGM means current infection...correct? Do these numbers represent bands that showed up on the test?
5. Is there ANY indication in these results that my child HAS or HAS NOT been bitten by a tick....and there could be some co-infection involved? I guess what I am trying to understand is why there are some ++, *** and some -, and INDs. ...would it be possible for this stuff to show up if my child has had NO exposure?
IGG Result:
18 kDa -
**23-25 kDa -
28 kDa -
30 kDa -
**31 kDa-
**34 kDa IND
**39 kDa IND
**41 kDa ++
45 kDa -
58 kDa +
66 kDa -
**83-93 kDa IND
IGM
18 kDa -
**23-25 -
28 kDa -
30 kDa -
**31 kDa -
**34 kDa -
**39 kDa -
**41 kDa IND
45 kDa -
58 kDa -
66 kDa -
**83-93 kDa -

- Yes, assuming your child has symptoms or there would never have been a test, and the results of the tests above, it does look like your child could have lyme. Sorry.
An ILADS-educated lyme literate doctor should be consulted for the best diagnostics.
There is no way to test if someone has been bitten by a tick. Many who have had bites do not remember.
Mosquitoes can also carry lyme and may some other vectors.
See the Western Blot Explanation here - and why a person can have lyme - but the CDC possitive criteria is not met. The CDC criteria is criminally negligent, IMO.
Still, it's very challenging to assess lyme. More detail here:
WHY you need an ILADS "educated" or "minded" Lyme Literate doctor (whether MD or ND, or both) - starting with assessment / evaluation. -

- Coinfections possible?
There is no way to tell from the test about coinfections. However, for anyone with lyme, coinfections are nearly always present.
I wish you the best luck as you explore your options with truly lyme literate doctors (most are not). -

I should know this . . but not sure now! I believe the asterisks are indicating the bands needed to get a truly (overall) positive test.
The +'s are indicating a positive band. (more than one plus sign means it is strongly positive) The "IND" is a weak positive. The minus sign means the band is not showing up in the test.
The bands shown are bands on any Igenex test.. but some labs would not show ALL bands because they do not test for all possible bands like Igenex does.
This is a test for LYME and does not indicate anything about a coinfection. You have to do separate testing for that.
Since he has several bands which are Lyme-specific, it is very likely he does have Lyme... as long as he has symptoms consistent with Lyme.
Find an LLMD!!!
