My blood pressure has not been liking Bicillin. It has been running very low, and it is especially low about an hour after the injection until about 6 hours later.

Is this a herx or a side-effect? I also seem to be having issues with changes in my heart beat and rate.

What has been your experience with Bicillin herxes?

Thanks for any input!

I have heard of people having antibiotics affect their heart. If this was me, I would notify my lyme doc of this symptom along with the changes in heart beat.

It's a die off reaction for sure. I have had the same many times. If there are some bacteria in areas around your heart that interfere with the electrical system, it might give you an arrythmia and when you start/change/increase your abx it can get worse temporarily then better.

Low blood pressure is pretty common too if your are ill or going through die off. The worst I ever had was when I started Bicillin and was pulsing in Flagyl, both at much higher than recommended doses. I was draggin myself around for over a month. No joke, it was brutal but it wasn't the drugs cause I slowly crawled out of it and back to normal after about 5 weeks as I remember...while still on treatment.

My GP was sure the Mexican drugs were making me sick and was cross with me for going rogue. When I cleared up and showed up smiling, while still taking the same meds, it spooked him that my predictions were true and he just wanted me to go see the ID doc again (who is a COMPLETE Lyme opponent)...round and round for infinity...apparently I am a complete ******* for not letting my life slip away...??

Good luck...keep going.

Thanks for the advice, kgg!

Migs, that is really helpful to know. Glad to hear things turned around for you! I can't help but think my ANS is playing a role since I already had problems before this med.

When I first started Biaxin, it knocked me for a loop pretty much out of the gate. In my 5 1/2 years of treating, my doctor put me on Biaxin.

It made me sicker than ever, BUT I believe to this day that it was my turn around drug.

Everyone has different things that help them, but this was mine.

My herxes were such a weakness that I could hardly walk. I had been walking before starting it. Went to do a Lyme Awareness walk after starting it and BAM....it wiped me out before I got even a shot distance, so had to turn around and go back.

And for it, it did mess up my blood pressure. Sometimes it was VERY low and other times VERY high. I felt like a ping pong ball since you do feel those extremes.

BUT I recommend trying this drug 100 percent because it packs a punch and helped me so much.

Tdtid,
Happy to hear you are seeing improvements! It's strange how these medicines can have our BP swinging all over the place, but if it's killing stuff then that's find with me!
Thanks
