I just never hear of anyone else that deals with diarrhea from Lyme. I'm not sure it's a symptom.

Here's what happens:
Cold chills
then sweats and fatigue sets in
then lose appetite
then cramping and diarrhea

I have other symptoms too, but these are bad. Anyone else? I know there's some that hv upper GI problems but what about lower?

Yes Messa,

I have had about every GI symptom out there including cramping, abdominal pain that awakened me at night, diarrhea, and, sometimes, constipation.

I certainly don't want to speak for others but I would bet that just about everyone has experienced fatigue to some degree.

Personally, fatigue and pain are big issues.

I have not had chills or sweats though.

Be well,

Thewino

Thanks thewino. Yea the gastro stuff seems to be my ongoing worst symptom. Idk. I feel very alone with this. My dr has no clue what to do with me.

Messa,

I just went to the ILADS website and they list hot flashes, chills, night sweats, and diarrhea as being symptoms of Lyme disease.

Hang in there,

Messa,

You aren't alone. I have some pretty serious abdominal issues also.

I have mostly lurked on this board but I can tell you there are a lot of people in your position.

And, you can learn a lot of helpful information on this website.

Also have had my fill of GI and ADD (Antibiotic Associated Diarrhea)issues.

Ginger and Cloves help heal the gut, and take the best Probitics you can afford. Sometime you just need to stop taking a particular ABX. I could not tolerate Augmentin at all.

Yes, I have had a lot of gastro problems with Lyme, more over the last 7or 8 years and particular trouble (ever since) after food poisoning abroad this time last year. It causes a lot of anxiety too, especially if I am trying to get osteopathic or chiropractic treatment for my back and coccyx issues.

I am hoping that the Cowden Support program will help address some of the gastro issues. In the meantime, psyllium husk powder (a rounded teaspoon in large glass of water in the middle of the night) does sometimes help avoid diarrhea and some days are now less troublesome than others, like with most of Lyme problems.

It IS sometimes frightening, I know, when your doctors are flummoxed, so keep trying things and know that you aren't alone.

This is a nightmare. I have to go to dr tomorrow so he can tell me how perfect my bloodwork is and he doesn't know what to do.

I'm just sayin I'm havin real bad thoughts [Frown]

I have a friend wih Lyme who has found Metamusil wafers help her with this problem. Someone with LD recommended it to her.
Probably works like the psyllium husk powder ukcarry mentioned.

I haven't been able to be here much lately, so I don't know how much you know about all this.
Are you aware of the fact that probiotics should be taken 2 hours away from abx? I take 2 kinds of capsules and generally after the abx. That usually gives them more time for benefit before hitting them with abx again, especially at night.

My gastro stuff isn't from antibiotic use. Just began antibiotics couple days ago. Long story.

Lymetoo, how long did it take til you were able to get a hold of the yeast issue? I've been at this for a while.

So your yeast problem is from antibiotic use? I'm sorry I keep asking questions. I don't know how I got a yeast problem.

Yes, but I had yeast before I began Lyme treatment. If you take abx long term, you WILL have yeast. Period.

I do hope you are taking mega doses of probiotics and watching what you eat.
