I have spent the past 6 days in the hospital due to being so ill I couldn't function. Hospital ran elisa - positive w blot showed 2 bands on igg. They did not tell me which ones. Also tested band 18 on igm. I had late stage lyme 14 years ago. They said that they are confused by western blot but believe I'm negative for current infection. Did the almighty spinal tap. Of course that came up clean. The prescribed 10 days of dozy as that is the protocol according to worthless infectious disease dr. I'm having all tests sent to me. Seeing LLMD in a few weeks If one has band 18 in igm does that mean active lyme?

- ANY positive bands on either the IgG or the IgM Western Blot can indicate CURRENT, active or persistent borellia infection, especially with classic symptoms, and your history with lyme.
I assume they did not test for Babesia or other tick-borne infections?
WHY you need an ILADS "educated" or "minded" Lyme Literate doctor (whether MD or ND, or both) - starting with assessment / evaluation.
Medical "models" explained here, as to differences in the ISDA & ILADS models of assessment & treatment - and exactly why it is so very important to know the differences. -

- How doxycycline, alone, can cause chronic lyme, see thread below.
Hopefully, when you see your LLMD in a couple weeks, you will be able to get a full protocol.
In the meantime, I suggest GSE, grapefruit seed extract and certain enzymes such as Wobenzyme.

- Pulling out from that set, IMO, the top three adjunct avenues that I would consider were I to be you - until you can get in to see your LLMD. Be sure to get on their list in case there is an opening, too.

- Hope you feel better soon. I know there is a lot here to go through but I just wanted to be sure you had the basic tools - for now and as reference as you sort through all this.
Wish it were easier.
IMPORTANT ? - Did you receive STEROIDS while in hosptial? If so, there are some things you might need to do differently. Hope not, though.
Take care. -

- And (sigh) there is more. I hope they told you, with doxycycline to:
AVOID ALL SUN EXPOSURE. "Doxy burns" can be brutal. Even through windows, even in the car. Keep all skin from sun and "bounced" sun.
STAY UPRIGHT (or at least your torso) for an hour after taking.
Avoid calcium and other minerals for a couple hours both directions of the clock. No dairy, for example but the calcium and minerals in greens will be fine.
---------------
For any antibiotic:
PROBIOTICS are essential to try to prevent systemc candida infection. If you are in an intimate relationship, your partner should also take probiotics as candida can be passed, even with kissing.
Olive Leaf Extract can be very helpful to also prevent candida. I found this to be amazing help that prevented candida from even developing during my last stint with doxy. Berberine can also be excellent in this regard.

Thank you for all the info. To answer your question they did not give me steroids.

- Generally, keep each of these 3 categories separate by a couple hours, both clock directions (unless your LLMD later instructs differently, there are some exceptions).
Rx
Supplements (whether nutritional or herbal)

- Whew! So glad steroids were not involved. You likely know (but will say so for any newcomers reading this) that steroids can make lyme much worse and they can stay in the body for six months so it's not so easy to un-do the immune suppression.
One more set and I hope to leave you alone. Important with any antibiotics, etc:

Band 18 on IgM is my most positive band...
But yes, ANY positive bands on either IgM or IgG should be enough to get you in the door to see an LLMD, and they'll likely treat if you also have symptoms (and I assume you have symptoms, since you were in the hospital).
