So I have been doing the no sugar no carb thing and doing probiotics. Stomach feels a lil better but I still have strange stools and definitely malapsolration.
Bloating after I eat no matter what. Foul smelling stools.
Cdiff was negtive
Researching I think I have sibo. I see my llmd on Monday so I'm gunna ask for a test.
Anyone ever have this how did u treat it?

Just be VERY VERY careful of the conventional treatment. My GI Dr gave me Xifaxin years ago for what he THOUGHT was SIBO. (I was never tested for it)
Two weeks later I had a really severe case of candida (it was already bad.. just got worse).
My health is still a big mess and I'm still mad at him for giving me that drug.

I tested positive for SIBO. I did several courses of rifaximin and I am now on low dose erythromycin at bedtime which acts as a prokinetic. I am doing much better.
Diet can play a big role. Robins link is the best one. Lots of info on there. Fyi many with sibo do better without probiotics. For many the probiotics make things worse.

The problem is with SIBO there is already a bacterial overgrowth. To introduce mre bacteria even if it is "good" bacteria can aggravate the issues.
A prokinetic works on the intestinal motility.

I have had SIBO and been treated. 2 times with a short course of Cipro, and once with a short course of Augmenten. My LLMD did Genova stool testing to see which bacteria was overgrowing.
Be careful with probiotics. I researched alot and there is evidence that probiotics feed the bacteria. It's about finding the balance.
Ellen101, I read about a low dose of erthyromycin being effective and if I get it again, I will investigate that. Did you feel that it helped your Lyme symptoms as well?
I take magnesium everyday to keep things "moving". I believe that all the abx we have taken is the underlying culprit, but what can we do?

The bacterial overgrowth made me SO, SO, sick, for SO, SO, long. It completely compromised by entire digestive process for a year and a half. We're talking, an inability to swallow foods. Choking, and reflux were beyond severe. An eso-dilatation did little -if anything- to improve the dysphagia.
I'm happy to report that things are slowly resolving, now. As Ellen mentioned, I can attest to the burden that the probiotics were further placing on my gut. It took a while to figure that out, but, just after a few months of being off from them, more improvement with my digestion was appreciated.
It's still a work in progress, but, with time, the SIBO and related issues are continuing to mend.
Don't lose hope! Told you...

Went to my LLMD yesterday.
Not convinced its SIBO but is having me do a breath test. Also, a stool sample and testing for H pylori and parasites.
Thinks I have Gut Dybiosis going on. But giving me a course of Diflucan to see if its east.
Gave me Digestive Enzymes. and Pepsin HCl and peppermint oil.
Change my abx and my probiotics.
so we will see if that helps.

Are the diagnostic tests for SIBO reliable? I have major stool issues (long before starting abx, in fact they were my first symptom last year) and have been cranking up the probiotics but they aren't helping at all.
I'm wondering based on this thread if the probiotics are a problem for me.
I don't have any gas or bloating, just constant loose stools.
p.s. I had colonoscopy and stool test in the fall but colon came back fine and stool test showed overgrowth of klebsiella pneumonia and citrobacter.

Tricia.. I hope they can figure it all out.
I read that you need to take the SIBO test 3 times because they are not that reliable. I don't know if the test misses a lot of cases or if it's over-diagnosed. I would suspect it misses cases.
