Hi there, we have a long story that I will not go into, but are seeing Dr. J in MD who does feel like she has Bartonella. She started Doxy just 100mg in AM a week ago. We were prepared for a herx reaction, as we have previously noted w/ antibiotic use. She seems to have a pattern of mostly waking up feeling really awful in the am, with severe fatigue, bone pain (shins) and some chills...basically flu like. Many days she seems to turn a corner around 3/4pm and then is feeling good for the evening. Then it starts again the next day. Has this pattern happened to anyone? Does it sound like a herx reaction? We have not started the 2nd Doxy in the evenings yet. Thanks for any ideas/advice.

Hi,
We are in your general metro area and yes, DS, 14 yo, received 100mg in the AM and PM when he first got his dx from pediatrician. It unleashed a torrent of symptoms that generally got worse as the month went on. This and his late stage dx are what led us to our LLMD clinic.

We found doxy brought out his co-infection symptoms and sort of showed us what addl infections we'd be dealing with. For him it so far is babs and mycoplasma. His symptoms were continued joint swelling, more severe air hunger than before and tons of drenching night sweats (not experienced beforehand), daily fevers that still have not left after 5 months of treatment. We are seeing progress.

Be sure she is detoxing as much as possible. Green decaf tea, epsom salt/baking soda/essential oil, parsley, burbur-pinella, Alka Seltzer Gold, benadryl etc are what we have tried. Also milk thistle and dandelion for liver and kidney - taken away from antibiotics/meds.

Parent of teen with late stage Lyme, mycoplasma, bartonella and babesia. Dx Nov '15, in remission early to mid '18.
