and was looking at Mom's Organic Market (a great grocery store) for more options, more strains, etc.
got a jar of Garden of Life "5 Day Max Care" powder and loving it
it is gluten free, soy free, and GMO-free (organic actually) but it does contain dairy
it says 34 (!) strains - my best one before only had up to 15 - and it is a powder with a scoop - 400 Billion live organisms per scoop
so I take half a scoop at a time and 200 Billion and it lasts longer that way (there are only 5 scoops in the jar but the scoops are huge) - I like how you can adjust the doses since it is a lose powder
it tastes good and does not seem to have any bad additives
I have been taking it for a few days and my tongue is nice and smooth and pink and clear
***
by the way, I put some Renew Life probiotic powder in a drop of water under a microscope and saw the little live critters busy moving around
just wanted to see that for myself since the probiotics are so expensive - they were alive - yeah!
***
also, this is a bit strange, but I love pickles and recently even started to crave the pickle juice - could this be an inexpensive way to get probiotics?
I take sips of the left over juice when the pickles are gone rather than pouring it out
my body likes it and I get the "real" pickles - not with vinegar but with live culture fermentation
it may make a good salad dressing with Hemp oil and Flax oil and some herbs as well - just thought of that

Have you thought about making your own Kefir? It's easy, and so inexpensive - all you need is the kefir grains and milk, It's ready in 24 hours and has trillions of organisms. So healthy and tastes great.
I got my grains from a cheese farmer, but they can be bought through the internet and mailed to you. By the way, the powdered stuff isn't the real thing.

Good to know. I like the renew life. I never tried the garden of life powder, only the capsules which I thought were over priced and didn't work as well. So I'll stick with my renew life along with a separate s. Boullardii.
