So I have been feeling worse than usual since a trip to Kenya in 2014....I have definitely had a parasite after a trip to Cuba in 2015 subsequent to return from Kenya.
I was treated with anti parasitics after Cuba and just finished a blind sequence of two anti parasitic drugs since the MD cannot find parasites
but he did find crystals and pus in my stool the old fashioned way of testing the stool directly
my question for anyone is if I'm free of parasites does anyone know why I still feel awful and there's evidence of crystals and pus in my stool
the MD says to stop worrying but I have to find some reason for my stool patterns, my sweats, my lower back pain and GI issues....

Crystals, which are usually Charcot Leyden cystals, are evidence of Giardia and should be treated as such. Pus definitely shows infections. You need a better doctor, ie, a tropical disease paristologogist. If you are able to see a doctor in NYC, I can give you a recommendation.
Otherwise, are there any tropical disease parisitologists where you are?? Unlikely. This guy has written textbooks on it and works with The Who. Not cheap, however.
I need to clean out my PM box, but in the meantime, let me know here if you want his information. He's not an LLMD, so I suppose it can be given in the thread. Having Girardia, and who knows what else, is no joke, a serious health situation.
PS Joke time: I sent my husband to him in the past, and he thought that the doctor was saying, "charcoal laden crystals!!" I roared! It's still a joke in our household.

BTW, you could try asking him to treat you for Giardia, again, if need be. But you wouldn't know what else you may have. Nor would you be sure whe it's all gone.
Why the heck does he think it's ok for you to have pus and crystals in your stool??!! Yeesh! Not to mention your symptoms. I should have my MD/DO---ha!

Dan, I think you need to go back on some serious parasitic kills. How long did you do parasite remedies after visiting those countries?
I wish you would have asked about this a couple weeks ago. We could have set you up with a fantastic Parasite Summit on line that would have been great note taking info for you.

thanks for the feedback, just so you know, I am seeing a parasitologist with a NYC and international reputation on Fifth Avenue ..he's done well by me in the past but this time altho he treated be blindly with two different anti parasite drugs which I finished a week ago he's reluctant to treat me again without lab evidence that I have parasites...
worried about becoming impervious to the medication (I think I may have already become impervious, having had multiple instances of parasites in the past)

Was it Cahill you saw? Must have been. That's odd, because he knows that the Charcot Leyden crystals are evidence of Giardia. But maybe he already treated you for that and doesn't want to treat you again? But why, I wonder, sometimes one round doesn't do it.
Plus, didn't he test you before treating you the first time?
The other thought is, maybe he is just getting too old (he's way up there now---at least 90, if not more. I believe! (I hope this is ok to post, since he's not an LLMD. If not, I will delete it (or the mods can), after Dan has read it).
