I was just diagnosed last week with Lyme Disease through a urgent care clinic. I'm fortunate, the Doctor I saw was aware of Lyme disease and it's flu like symptoms and I literally had a bull's-eye rash on my back, so it left no room for doubt.
Put me on two weeks of DOXY-CYCLINE 100mgs 2x/day and told me to follow up asap with my Primary Care? Do Doctors really know what to do?
Found this site which provided some scary education/awareness but also some hope from those sharing stories. I'm feeling pretty good right now but don't want to be in denial either - Any guidance would be appreciated...

Two weeks doxy probably not enough Doxy doesn't treat coinfections Most primary care doctors don't have a clue Find an ILADS physician asap and get ahead of this as soon as you can Congrats, you found us!

Thanks so much for your feedback...you have know idea how these two responses gave me some direction and sense that I could do something?!
I'm following up with primary as soon as I can get an appt. however till then I told them I will need additional doxy script.
The Lymenet "Bible" video was extremely helpful and will bring to primary in order to educate him...
not sure if he will take it seriously but even the blood test / analysis seems extremely important in identifying type of bacteria and co-infections need treatment.

It's extremely important to knock out the infection in the first several weeks so you don't end up chronic. Taking doxy is the first step, but also so is getting to a Lyme-treating doctor who can treat you properly in the beginning stages.
You can get referrals to Lyme-treating doctors through making a post in Seeking asking for referrals in your area/state.
