I've had testing done for many coinfections with MDL and results were negative.

My question is, is coinfection testing just as difficult/unreliable as Lyme testing?

Can one be seronegative for coinfections and still have a coinfection?

Hi Stella Marie,

The short answer is YES!

Many docs will run through a trail of meds for co-infections just to be on the safe side.

My first and second tests for co's were negative, but after about a year, I had a positive. After starting treatment for Bart, I really started to improve.

I guess I am perplexed about this too. Why are the coinfection tests as difficult to interpret or get a real positive from as the Bb tests?

The infectious bacterium dont act the same as eachother.

And does an IgG result with bart or babs or ehrlichia mean that you no longer are infected? Or not in active infection? Even Igenex is not clear with this.

I find this more confusing and less researched than Lyme which is insane!

any help from the board fairies?

I watched a vhs of a presentation by Dr J B recently. He stated that the MOST common TBD in the northeast is ........................................................................................
BARTONELLA!

And the tests for that are especially unreliable.

I certainly plan to ask about tx for bart at my next appt.
