I have been on IV rocephin for 2 full weeks. My pain level has increased quite significantly, plus migrating pains--jolt in the head, behind the eye, in the shoulder, bottom of foot--plus nasty headaches in the front part of my head. Is this the herx?

A herx can be an increase in any of your symptoms, or the onslaught of new symtpoms. So yes, could definitely be a herx.

Also, see Cheryl''s extensive web sites on: LD DIAGNOSIS, SYMPTOMS, & TREATMENT ... wonderful! Read the area on CO-INFECTIONS! You could have from 1-12 other illnesses that tick is carrying...lyme, malaria, etc.
If you are showing symptoms of co-infections, I would like to suggest being tested for co-infections when you have LYME western blots done. It isn''t cheap!! But if you are positive, you can treat the co-infections first, and then work on LYME symptoms.

I don't drive often at night, but I can wear NOIR's 901 lenses at night while driving; it creates soft candle lights coming at me...tolerable. NOT to wear in town with all the action of people crossing where they shouldn't be, etc.

All you have to do is ask tiny url to produce a short version, which it will do with a unique address, which you then use instead in your post. Works just the same when clicked! Here is the website, spread the word!

It sounds like a herx to me! Remember all your symptoms can worsen plus the addition of new ones. hang in there!

Thank you all for your responses. How wonderful to not have to go thru this alone, but have knowledgeable people to offer ideas and support.
I have been on Rocephin since the last week in April, the first week on increasing doses and now 2000 mg each day. At some point, we will switch back to twice daily for 3 days on, 4 off, but my white blood count was up for some reason and the daily seemed like a solution.
I was so afraid my energy would be zapped. Not sure if the antibiotics are helping in that department, or if it is just that I do better in the spring in our northern climate, but I have had good energy for me (which isn't saying much for a normal person).
My pain level has been at the "screaming" level at times, esp. at night right after taking the abx. Also I have migrating pains--a shot behind the eye, a jolt to the head, the bottom of feet, etc, plus some headaches. I don't think there is much to be done about it but to get thru. I am taking ultram (tramadol) and diclofenac for pain--gets me thru. Wish I could take some narcotics, but am also taking naltrexone to boost immune system and don't want to mess with that.
I am highly chemically sensitive, and am exhibiting some skin sensitivity to the plastic of the PICC line where it touches or goes into my skin. Any ideas? So far things are holding but I have only had it a week, so that is discouraging.
