Hi Lymies,

Here's one I haven't read about yet:

My tongue is sore. I have purple-gray rings around the base of a few of the large taste buds on the back of the tongue. It looks like a bad bruise.

The color is like a moat around each taste bud; it doesn't look like it's in the rest of the tongue.

I was eating some rough cereal yesterday, but I don't think it would have caused this. I've had no other trauma to my mouth.

Could this be related to an oral yeast infection? I do have a white coat on my tongue that I can't scrape off. It's not painful or in other parts of my mouth.

What do you think?

Nancy
