Gov. Bredesen is back from the Mayo Clinic and they said on the news tonight that Mayo was not able to give him a diagnosis. But apparently there are some test results they didn't have yet.

He came back tonight? I thought he was staying for more tests tomorrow.
Did anyone notice on the news reports, they were saying he "walked from test to test" ? They seemed to be making a point of that.......
I guess the news stations are freaking out cause they can't get a diagnosis.
Been there, done that.lol.

Yes, they said he came home tonight. Here's a link to the full story.
One earlier report made it seem like Mayo wasn't able to diagnose him period. But this Channel 5 report makes it seem like they couldn't diagnose him because they're waiting on test results, which makes sense.

Thanks, Doggiemom, for keeping us posted. It sounds as though you have some interested news staff who are interested in going beneath the surface of this. I hope they keep digging.

Does Mayo know what Lyme Disease is? If not, then how could they possibly diagnose it..lymemomtooo

I think it is very unlikely to get a lyme diagnosis at Mayo, from what I hear.
Also, the head of infectuous disease at the state board of health in Tennessee claimed a few years ago that the very few cases of lyme in TN were acquired elsewhere. Thus, impossible to get it ! But we should be worried about all the other acute tick infections, like RMSF.
The fact that he is not getting a diagnosis (i.e. that they can't find anything else and won't even entertain the possiblity of lyme) suggests to me anyway that he does, in fact, have an infection involving borrelia.

This is a quote from the article that caught my eye. If it is Lyme or another tickborne illness I think we will be hearing more about this soon.
Deputy General Dale Cooley says Bredesen has experienced no fever and has not been taking any medications since being discharged, but that doctors have been unable to pinpoint the cause of the illness after first suspecting a tick bite.

Hi all, We all 'KNOW' whats wrong with him. We all 'want' to help!!!
As I previously said, they are in information overload!!! The good governor isnt reading anything. His staff is, and they dont understand. They are getting conflicting advice from all angles.
NOW, after thinking about this for a bit, here is my best guess. You can e-mail and contact now(the staff is handling it). BUT they are tired and wondering and wishing for good test results and the 'Mayo' silver bullet.
My guess is a wait till it dies down, results that say your 'all well now'OR 'we dont know what is could be', and he is still sick and still wondering what the heck hit him!!!
THEN, and only then, can you contact, (NOT the Governor direct,,, but try going thru his wife. Find somebody that might know her personally or find 'HER" e-mail or better yet snail- mail so she has hard copy in her hand to read. DONT overload the info highway here.
Very simple and to the point!!! Basic info only, like where this site is. List of lyme sx's, the tried and true sure fire signs, like creaky stiff neck, alcohol intolerance,(did I miss one?) feeling better on abx. careful, NOT, to much, info, simple is BETTER.
You are to be commended for the info you have passed on already,,,HE just needs better source of info than he has been given up to now. Obviously the seed has been already been planted ,,,otherwise you would see no reference to the tick bite in previous media articles.
The governors wife's name was given in 'doggiemom's' link. That would be my best guess at making the proper connection. She, after all being the wife has more input than all the staff put together, and we dont know their state of mind. Other than wishing he was well!!!
Again,,,his staff isnt 'overriding' all the expert ducks he has been seeing, yet at least. They arent passing the info along, at best they are logging it in as a well wish and hitting delete to keep the mailbox flowing. At worst they JUST hit delete!!! Either way its resulting in a 'no- pass- the- info-' life!!!
My best guesses because I remain--just don--

I know someone who worked for him when he was the mayor, I am going to talk to him on Sunday.
Any suggestions on something simple I could print out to explain things and stress the importance. This man knows how sick I am so hopefully he will be able to get the info straight to the govenor.

Which is one of the reasons our docs don't take us seriously in TN. After all, if the head of infectious disease doesn't believe in it, why should our doctors?
I have never, ever had a tick bite anywhere other than Tennessee. It was a Tennessee tick that gave me Lyme. I was at a lake in Tennessee when the tick bit me.
It was also a Tennessee tick that gave me Ehrlichia chaffeensis, which they also tried to tell me wasn't found in Tennessee, but the doc did see the tick that bit me that gave it to me. Its head was imbedded so deep they had to cut it out of me. He was quite surprised when my test results were positive for a disease that supposedly doesn't exist here, and he had actually seen the tick as proof that I did indeed get the tick in Tennessee.
The health department told me Lyme and Ehrlichia area alive and well in Tennessee. The head of infectious disease really ought to do a better job keeping up with the real facts.

If Mayo tests do not help and the gov still is having trouble, then my suggestion would be that he get an evaluation at Columbia. This would be better than sending him a whole raft of treatment guidelines, etc and names of doctors in private practice.

Thanks Lou, just want to keep it as simple as possible, and I'll add the Columbia contact info as well.
I'll try to post anything I hear back
