this last wave of sx, since beginning of Oct has left me with imbalance, usu to the right. It happened in the summer of '05. and used to happen after I scuba dived for a day or two (not uncommon). My ENG, MRI, hearing tests all negative. I do have chronic stuffy nose but it's never bothered me before with balance issues.
Also I have what I can only describe as "headwaves"...its not dizziness or vertigo. Best I can describe it is as a change of pressure or something. Seems like the two sx above are linked. HHHMMM with all our sx who wouldn't be nutzo. anyone else with similar sx??

I totally have the same thing and headwaves is an excellent way to describe it. I always said it is the weirdest sensation. I sometimes feel like I need to be committed.
Besides my horrendous headaches and 24/7 dizziness/lightheadedness/fogginess it is in a sense comforting to hear someone else has the same thing.
I hate it! I am starting IV Rocephin next week in addition to my oral abx and I am hoping I will start to see some improvements.
Good luck to you.

Do you still scuba dive at all? That's kind of Mother Nature's hyperbaric oxygen chamber -- right?

I am an advid diver also. At the end of this summer I started to get what I felt as if was a wave feeling in my head after a couple of dives. I would lay down and it was as if I was still in the water floating on a raft on the water.
I also get a lot of energenic testing and we tried to pinpoint what was causing this for me. For me my ehrlichia was starting a big flare. Once we started to treat it "again" this symptom stopped.
By the way, just prior to lyme diagnoses, I was diving and got mildly bent. My LLMD is a diver and has a decompression chamber in his clinic. He found a number of small bubbles under my skin. He ran me through 2 chamber dives and they went away.
The infections disrupted the normal offgassing that a healthy person whould have. I can still dive but am limited to shallow profiles and use nitrox mixes to make sure that there is enough O2 in my system.

Interesting John, I hope your rx is working for You!! I had a ENG done last week and they said that my left ear was 14% weaker than my right. could be caused by an infecton that I had or starting...no way for them to tell. My balance is improving a bit now...Happy dives to ya!!

Sounds like classic babesia symptoms. Even the "head waves." Have you been tested for babesia?

I am not sure if this is the same thing -
but a little while ago my balance and coordination just decided to go on vacation.
I kept falling into things...even ended up on the floor.
There was a pink pressurey sensation in my head but I am not sure I would describe it as waves.
When this got real bad I started slurring my words.... The thought was clear in my brain ...
just the physical act of speaking was the problem.
My meds were changed and this has since dissappeared...

A few people have mentioned babs to me. I looked at the sx, high temp, severe chills, sweats...but haven't been tested. I never had high temps, onlt lowgrade today 99.4, never severe chills but have been having chills for a month now, and had night sweats when this started maybe around 4 times in the summer of 2005 and then some sweats while eating this past summer. I do have toxo which is a protozoan disease so maybe thats where my sx are coming from.
