Would it be worth it for me to take Chlorella if I only plan to take two a day? I won't be taking a handfull of the stuff, and I'm getting the impression you have to take a ton of pills for it to do anything.

Start with two and if you like it you can take more. I started with 2 and now take 30 from e-lyte a day. I need it.

LENTIL SOUP WITH CILANTRO (LOTS OF IT)


I would make a few changes, using Baby French Lentils instead of brown lentils - and SEA salt. And, who has energy to puree?But, if you do, a stainless steel hand-held blender is best. This does not have to be pureed, though.

I'd also add carrots for my eyes.

LENTIL SOUP WITH CILANTRO (LOTS OF IT) --By Martha Rose Shulman

This easy lentil soup is seasoned with cumin and an entire bunch of chopped cilantro, stirred in just before serving.

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 1/4 teaspoons cumin seeds, lightly toasted and ground
Pinch of cayenne

1/2 pound brown lentils (about 1 1/8 cups), picked over and rinsed

1 small onion, cut in half

1 bay leaf

1 1/2 quarts water

Salt, preferably kosher salt, to taste

Freshly ground pepper

1 cup chopped cilantro (from 1 large bunch)

Plain low-fat yogurt for garnish


1. Heat the oil in a large, heavy soup pot over medium heat, and add the garlic. Stir until fragrant, about a minute, and stir in the cumin and cayenne. Add the lentils, onion, bay leaf, water and salt. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer 40 minutes, until the lentils are tender and the broth aromatic. Add pepper, taste and adjust salt. Remove the halved onion and the bay leaf.


2. Coarsely puree the soup in an immersion blender or food mill. Alternatively, puree half the soup in blender, 1 1/2 cups at time, being careful to cover the top of the blender with a towel to avoid hot splashes, then stir back into the soup. Heat through.


3. Chop the cilantro, discarding the stems. Stir into the soup just before serving. Taste, adjust seasoning and serve, topping each bowl with a dollop of yogurt.

Yield: Serves four.

Advance preparation: The soup can be made through step 2 up to a day ahead of time. You may need to thin it out with a little water.

Frm Dr. K's site on the difference of Chlorella types: Vulgaris and Pyrenoidosa

* It's very important to know that once a toxin has bound to Chlorella it won't take off any more, under no circumstances.

Every time Chlorella chelates toxins in the intestinal tract, the Chlorella/toxin-complex leaves the body unbroken by way of the faeces.

* For detoxification purposes, it is recommended to take Chlorella on an empty stomach

* Generally there are two different strains of Chlorella available on the market: Ch. Pyrenoidosa and Ch. Vulgaris. They certainly differ in a few details of fact, but to cut a long story short, the main points are:

Only Ch. Pyrenoidosa possesses Sporopollein and normally has a higher content of B12.

Ch. Vulgaris balances this disadvantage having a slightly better digestibility (softer cell wall) and on average, a higher chlorophyll and C.V.E. content.

Thanks karenl & Keebler... Well, hello again, l'parfait, I thought this might be you!

Thanks for bumping up the info. I have lots of chlorella I haven't used yet. I unknowingly poisoned myself with cilantro, so won't be using any of that whatsoever until well after AI and getting the chlorella entrenched a few months.

Since chlorella hurts my stomach, I used the digestive enzymes with cellulose and that solves a lot of the problem.

I've been told my a chinese MD that chorella causes more stomach upset if taken in TOO SMALL doses. He RX: start with 30 mini tablest, 1/2 hr before breakfast. Any less may cause upset. Was true for me. Never upset with 30.

Does chlorella have copper?
I cannot metabolize copper at all and I am afraid chlorella could have copper.
Which other binders have zero copper? Charcoal?

I got the answer already from another forum.
It is 0.08 mg / 100g.
But I am still interested in other binders like
bentonite clay?
