Dear Jif,
I know that doxy and minocycline are used to treat acne.
My skin looked great on doxy (minus the sunburned hands).
When I went off doxy for babs treatment, I too started to break out.
Didn't change anything else.
I am also 41 yrs young!!!!
I wonder if this is toxins being released into our skin causing this.
I don't have an answer for you, but wanted you to know I am having "break outs" too.
Shoot, I'd settle for a body of a 30yr old any day!!!!
Hugs,
Geneal

Did anyone put you on DHEA by chance? That can cause big time acne if the dose is too high.
I use colloidal silver on a cotton ball for my daughter's acne, and it works wonders.
Good luck.

could they be "exit holes" for those critters that try to get out of your "unfriendly" body? Posts: 196 | From atlanta/norcross, georgia | Registered: Feb 2007

There is a lot of detoxing that comes through the skin. It isn't pleasant, but my daughter's skin can go from radiantly clear to broken out. And she uses great skin care.
Sometimes the hormones get really whacked with this disease. A good bio-identical progesterone cream could help.

I started to have it when I was 18 (I am 33 now). But it wasn't like normal acne.
I also got it on my chest, arms and back.
I was treated for years with everything you could imagine. Sometimes my skin would look great and other times terrible. It hurt and itched too.
One dr said "oh, your pores just don't breath"... DERR!!!
I used great skin care and ate pretty healthy. I figured out what foods triggered it (eggs, tomatoes, dairy prducts).
Then another dr said yeast and I tested positive for T Gram-Nagative (or something like that).
I took accutane and that cleared me up. It is a very dangerous medicine though!
Now I notice when my yeast count goes up, my skin breaks out more. If keep up with my nystatin and/or diflucan it gets better!
Also, I would try to avoid some of the foods I mentioned. See if it helps. (and drink lots of water to flush all the bad stuff out of you)
I honestly believe it is related to the Lyme!

Yeah. I take a lot of stuff, so save your bucks until you've researched them... but here's the list.
Tazorac retin-A (once a week) Shea butter moisturizer Atopalm moisturizer Organic flaxseeds for omega-3s Anthelios sunblock with mexoryl
People also swear by primrose oil, fish oil, coconut oil, and udder cream. Honestly, the udder cream has a cult following. It's called Udderly Smooth.
Don't know if Prevage MD actually works, but you can check it out.
