Hi All, I've been gone for a long time. Am I having a relapse? I've had a very bad headache for over 3 weeks now. Behind my ear and down to neck. Sometimes dull ache, sometimes sharp shooting pains. Hurts whether moving head or still. Pain comes and goes now, but I'm medicated. Alternating tylenol, advil, and most recently percocet. Plus I take soma everynight (have for years) Had MRI - negative. Yes, good news....but what is it? Has Lyme reared it's ugly head again. Yes, I have stress, but that is nothing new. ALso I've been working many hours at work 50+ per week. THis type of headache was not one of my original symptoms. Note I do get migraines in front of head behind eye periodically. Take Imitrex for it. Imitrex did not even touch this pain though. Don't really think it's migraine. Dr. wanted me to take topamax. I don't want to. Next step is neurologist, but I pretty much know what will happen there. A few tests maybe, and then a script for an anti-depressant...which I won't take. What do you think guys? Does it sound like a Lyme relapse to you? Thanks for listening. Joy Posts: 162 | From DE | Registered: Feb 2002

yes, I can. At least I think he's still there. Haven't checked. As you might imagine, I'm hoping it's not Lyme, but I know I have to explore the possibility.

I have read here that bart also can cause brain stabbing pains, along with lyme. There is research presented here (search) for the ability of both to relapse. Then there are the babesia headaches too, and babesia can relapse.
Sorry this is happening. I am not even out of the woods yet, and I hold your experiences in my memory.
If it is relapse, I wish you a speedier recovery. At least you know the ropes, now.

well i agree with northstar - bart causes those stabbing headaches and resurpace every 4 to five days. And then, there is good ol'bab with the frontal headaches - and a full feeling in the brain.
If your neck is hurting - is the lyme clan back irritating your brain tissue and in the spinal fluid.
You could always test your self for a herx by taking some good ol'fashion garlic or abx.
Definitely time for an LLMD
hope you get better
