If we want to rid ourselves of the microbial toxins, Lyme or others, pay attention to your chemical exposures. You won't get rid of one without getting rid of the other. They love each others company in your body.

Please check out the make-up toxins on EWG.

And remember nature protects the mother - the infant gets the toxins!

Take care.

Ugg....this is what gets to me.

There are SOOOO many chemicals out there. Especially in our foods, cleaning products, even clothes.

Its next to impossible to avoid chemicals.

ive switched to natural cleaning products...lemon juice, borax, olive oil and vinegar.

What is a GOOD natural detox if you are overloaded?

is it listed in the protocols that Ive been told to take a look at?

It is so much more expensive too! So many people think "oh, take some pills (for Lyme) and you will be fine."

NOT - It causes so many other problems

I found that not only chemicals really aggravate me, but I have so many new food allergies too!

When I was first treating, my LLMD suggested I get air purifiers for my home and switch to natural cleaners, etc.

It did make a big difference.

Before, I would skip elevators if other people were in them or hold my breath in public places b/c I would throw up and get headaches from the smells (perfumes, hair products, dry cleaning chemicals, etc.).

Now it is not as bad, most days. I just do the best I can at home to lower what is built up in my system.

Don't drink out of cans and don't use or drink/eat out of plastic. Remove the plastics when you bring it home. Use glass containers.

Don't cook/heat anything in plastic. Never wrap or cover foods while still warm or hot in saran or similar plastics.

We are all loaded now with phthalates from exposure to plastics everywhere we look, starting with the toilet seat! The water bottle sitting in a hot car during warmer seasons makes your water very toxic. There is no safe plastic that I know of. No matter how many numbers they come up with.

The coating you have to clean up ever so often on the inside of your car window is in reality mercury released by heat exposure from the plastic dashboard.

Just be aware - toss all the chemicals out of your house. A little bit of dishwashing liquid, vinegar, and water with some muscle is all I use.
The microfiber cleaning cloths (8 for &5.00 from WalMart) is my major weapon in our house. It does a lot with plain old tap water. I keep a spray bottle in Our showers with water and a spoonful of oxy for a quick squirt after every shower. No soap deposits that way.

From toothbrush to carseat - nothing but plastics --- no wonder we suffer -- and plastic water pipes

500 mg of Glycine/day is said to help rid yourself of plastics if you are not totally saturated yet.
If you are very "plasticized", LED treatment followed by avoidance is very effective for removing some of this garbage

http://www.enviroblog.org/2007/04/ask_ewg_is_mineralbased_makeup.htm --- in case you missed the cosmetics.

Take care.

I attended a Lyme conference with Dr. B and Dr. H a couple weeks ago. Dr. H stated that the avaerage American consumes 8 lbs. of pesticides per year. Buy ORGANIC!

He also spend more than 30 minutes speaking on the role of chemicals and heavy metals in Lyme patients.

Gigi,

I may be building a house in the near future.

I would like to have it built as toxic free as possible in our society. Can you recommend any books that would help advise me in this area?

Lalalu,

"He also spend more than 30 minutes speaking on the role of chemicals and heavy metals in Lyme patients."

He should have spent half the conference time on these subjects - !!!!!!!!!! and then join the rest of the world in the efforts learning, educating, cooperating with the pioneers and helping patients to undo the damage. Klinghardt has been shouting this out into the world since the 1980's - is anyone listening?????? A handful on this board?

Take care.

Break the Chains, where do you live? When did you last fill your gas tank? When did you last eat? What kind of clothing are you wearing?

Just curious.

good questions, your right there are chemicals around
what i mean is that i do not use any chemical products on myself whatsoever, nor do i intentionally ingest any chemicals in anything i consume.
i used to be really sensitive to them, but i still cant stand em. they are gross, un-natrual and certainly not needed.

i have been thinking more and more about getting a clean car, like an electronic vehicle. if i had the money i would get into it right away.
i cant remember the last time i filled up
i havnt eaten since last night when i had a raw vegan organic salad. ive been eating raw vegan organic food for almost 2.5 years and it is AWESOME. its a permenant detox diet, but its also so much more than that.

i wear mostly organic hemp and organic cotton clothing. im wearing organic hemp right now [Smile]

it seems perhaps the biggest problem with non organic cotton is the massive amounts of chemicals that are running off into the ground water. ive heard that 50% of pollution in this country is from this industry, and its 25% worldwide.

im in connecticut about an hour north of nyc in the sub-burbs
they seem to spray the population centers most of all. which puts me in one of the worst places for that, the main population center in the country...

one that i think is pretty bad is sitting in traffic behind lots of cars. i try not to do that either.
when your actually smelling the fumes i think they are being absorbed by the body.
how gross. i try to hold my breath if i smell exhaust heh.

Dr. H also said that we are exposed to 300-500 chemicals per day.

I stand to be corrected. He spoke more like 18 minutes out of a 48 minute presentation to discuss metals, chemicals, pollutants and carcinogens.

Hooray for those in the Lyme audience hearing all this for the first time.

This sure is a learninng process.

i have heard there are like 93 different pesticides on each of a lot of the non organic produce, like strawberries. i heard a lot of these have near 100 different types.
i was suprised by this one, you would think that they would only use one or two.
i think all of this stuff is intentional by those that created lyme.

Luvs, Institute of Neurobiology has put on annually 3-day seminars the last few years dealing with nothing but Healthy Homes and surroundings. I doubt you will find it all in one book, and when you thought you know it all, another hundred new chemicals are coming on the market.

Contact the International Institute for Bau-Biologie. The can help you with Building Biologist Environmental Consultants. Wings of Eagles Healthy Living (WEHL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating people how to create healthy homes.

Take care.

P.S. I have posted specifically for you several times re Galactose, which is extremely helpful for RA. You never acknowledge or respond - so I am shutting up.

I used Dr. H as my LLMD for about a year. This is two years ago. Back then he didn't care much about detox and toxins.

He sure has grown since. I think this is positive.

I agree that the very first thing in a treatment plan is the detox step. But it really is also a lifestyle step in that it'll change the way you live you life, think and the choices you make.

Having said this, you can't live a life without getting exposed to toxins. You can only minimize it.

But how far should you go in your efforts to detox and minimize exposure??

IMO, it is not worth going overboard on this issue as the impact it has on your life is too radical and also unnecessary.

So we get exposed to some toxins. Our bodies can handle it, especially if we're continually detox, like many of us are. It's easy once you get the hang of it.

Secondly, there's the issue of trading off detox-lifestyle with happiness. Happy people live longer, stronger and more satisfying lives. But if you become obsessed with detoxificatoin then what did you gain?

Everything has to be balanced. Detox and exposure minimuzation too!

Michael

I'm not an MD. The above is IMO and in my experience as well as from health related books.

I've had symptoms consistent with neurological Lyme disease since 1986. Was diagnosed with Lyme in 2004. Am feeling better now than ever before.

Luvs,
If you google 'living off the grid' there is a ton of info on building 'green' homes.
Anything written by the Story's
Back to Basics [1988 edition] by [of all people Readers Digest] had excellant info.
I cant remember for sure, but I want to say Stu Cambell had some books on home designs and how to build. [There was a guy that all the 'green home' sites had referenced and I think it was him]
Another oldie but goodie was a book by Frank LLoyd Wright that I found in the library. He was earth friendly before it became popular.
I cant remember the title, had to return it.

'Is this your child's world', by Doris Rapp had an index list of companies and products for chemical sensitivies. [brands of paint, carpet, etc.]

Hope this helps [Smile]

You have to be careful buying organic as well. Not all organic actually is thanks to FDA approved wording.

Know the supplier!!

Remember all the spinach recall last year...organic and regular?
Some of the farms were downstream/wind from commercial hog farms.

For any growing of your own, watch out on the seeds. Monsato figured out how to put pesticides IN THE SEEDS! [Mad]

Questions for you....where can I get organicc cotton?
Found out the hard way about chemically laden clothing from china.
Tried to find clothe and its hard to come by.

The other question...Where do you get the protein and carbs from a raw diet without taking a bunch of supplements?

chemtrails....don't move to kansas anytime soon. we're the new hot spot for experiments.
