Topic: red streaks a definitive indicator of bart?

I've already posted a few times inthe last couple of days, so some of you may know my story. But here it goes, briefly: bitten by a WOOD TICK on the seventh, been on doxy. since 3 days after that, but, despite that, have gotten a lot of petechiae (PINPOINT-SIZED) on arms, and now, I also have large red streaks on my arms, chest, and back along with very mild body aches.
ARE these streaks definitive indicators of bartonella infection, and if so, does their appearance most likely represent a herx. symptom? (furthermore, if it is a herx, is this a good sign?) Or could the streaks be from babesiosis?

Hi Adam, Darn, really didn't want to hear that you were having any symptoms that *might* be TBI related.
I don't think babs produces those streaks but someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Bartonella definitely does produce red streaks but they can be caused by other things as well, such as addisons according to my regular doctor. Also, stretch marks can cause similar looking marks but of course you don't get a lot of those overnight.
The link to the DVD that I mention in the thread above talk about just the treatment options of one LLMD and from what I can tell, not typically what many LLMD's use. I'm still learning about bart.
Don't panic because even if you have these infections you are getting help right away and can get over them if you go to someone who knows what they are doing ASAP.
If it were me, I'd take pictures of all the rashes that you are seeing and keep a daily diary about when they showed up and any symptoms you are having each day. Your LLMD will find the information helpful since co-infections are often a clinical diagnosis.
Please let us know how you do.
Also added: Don't know if it's a herx but my bart rash did not show up until I started abx however I am not on the meds yet that my LLMD would use to treat bart but he said that my meds (doxy and zithromax) could have brought it out.

They looked a bit like them, but most were a lot lighter(most have faded now.) Do bart streaks come and go? I'm pretty sure that I hadn't applied any pressure to the red areas or irritated the skin by scratching it.

From what I've heard and read, the streaks do not go away without adequate treatment and 200 mg of doxy would not be adequate. The streaks are inflammation of the blood vessels in bart infections. I'm on 400 mg doxy and have had the streaks for several months.
Glad to hear they are going away but please take pictures of whatever is left just in case you need them.

Thanks. I guess they must have just been some skin irritations. Well, I'll try to get to an LLMD this week.

Bartonella causes red/purple streaks or stretch marks on: The hips, thighs, & under arms. They DO go away with treatment.
My sons had them for years without knowing what caused them. They got worse the longer they both went untreated. Once treated with Doxy/Mino the marks went away. Its been 2 1/2 years since they began treatment and the marks have not returned.

My streaks are on my upper torso, right side and front, above my waste. I also have the little red dots by the ones on the front torso. I think you can get the streaks in many different places. I've seen pictures of them on the back of the knees and lower and upper back as well as the locations that Lisi mentioned. Since the streaks are supposedly caused by inflammed blood vessels, I would guess (don't know for sure) that you could get them just about anywhere that you can get blood vessels.
As I said before, my understanding is that IF the streaks are caused by bart, they DO NOT go away without adequate treatment. I think most LLMD's would treat with something other than 200 mg doxy per day and if they didn't, I'd question whether they were an LLMD or not. So, since yours appeared and then quickly went away on 200 mg doxy, doesn't seem like they would indicate bart but I'm not a doctor and perhaps they can come and go under certain circumstances that I'm not aware of.
I watched 2 DVD's on bartonella, one by Dr. F. where is specifically stated that they do not go away without adequate treatment and the other by the famous Dr. B.. Here are my notes on the types of rashes you can get from the DVD that I watched: RASHES red, deep purple - hard - they are a result of new blood vessels being made. You get the rash from inflammation. They don't fade without treatment.
Has been described as any of these: Rashes are maculaopapular (they are flat) urticarial (means itching) erythema nodosum - hard firm nodule granuloma annulaire ring worm appears round - elevated thrombocytopenic purpura - pinpoint rashes
